Keep BOSE...or upgrade ....Quick Help

I am replacing my BOSE head unit with a Pioneer HU....I am also adding an amp and subs...I was going to replace all the speakers with Kenwoods, but the guy who is doing the install, told me to keep the BOSE speakers because they will sound good....Is this true, will everything be ok if I keep the BOSE speakers ??? Any help you guys can offer......

The bose speakers are ok. Aftermarket speakers will sound MUCH better though.

Yankee!!!'s car sounded good. He has an aftermarket HU with Bose speakers. He said he was going to stick with the Bose until they blew.

Would you mind telling how you did your setup?

(How it's wired to the Bose?) Always been curious about this.

Also, what's the ideal cutoff point for the subs on the crossover, (if you have one)? Is a crossover necessary?

Thanks!

yes a cross over is necessary, 200hz or less for subs

susprizingly the bose speakers are VERY nice speakers for a stock system

but the bose "amps" will fuc* you over soon, when i got my car (its a 91 got it in 00) all the amps but one had gone, and it was going soon

you can bypass the amps pretty easily if your good though, just take out the speaker and youll see the power/ground and 2 speaker inputs, just use the 2 speaker inputs rip out the amp and short them to the speaker

But, the quality of your ride, and trouble your going to go through to do that, i would DEFINITLy spend 100 or 150 more and get new speakers pioneer makes some killer 6x9's for the rear ( i own a pair of the 4 ways absolutly great) and they now have some compression horn ones that i havnt gotten to hear yeat, but are supposed to jam

the fronts can be replaced with 5.25 if i remember right, but it takes some plastic cutting and a small torch, but you can use the stock bose "boxes"

i got some audiobahn ones for about 50 buck, 3 way, i think they sound great

go for subs if you want, but first think of what you want in a system, and post on here, i bet a thrid of maxima owner have subs / sub experience, and see what brands they reccommend

remember, trunk space does matter

ps watch out for lansar (lanser) something like that, amps.. they suck

If you were to put a good quality aftermarket amplifier on the stock bose speakers, they would sound good. I put an amp on my stock mo-par aka mo-crap speakers, and they sound 100 times better than before.
