tire is rubbing!!
tire is rubbing!!
Ok, here's the story. I had sprints and tokicos put on, but had a worn strut. So I replaced the strut with another new tokico. the ride felt so much better on the way home, but then one tire started to rub going over bumps on the highway, not too bad, but I can notice it. I also have the camber bolts and my car needs to be aligned. Also I'm riding on 17's. Also the wheel that rubs the strut i replaced. After i got home, I realized that the side that is rubbing is also set about 1/2 a finger lower that the other side. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Where is it rubbing? along the fender lip? If you have camber bolts than you could dial in more camber (I don't recommend that). It may have more to do with your tire size and rim offset. I have never rubbed with my 245 even with a 35mm offset.
Yes, I'm pretty sure it's rubbing along the fender lip. I had the wheels on w/ the springs/struts and it was okay, it just started happening after I replaced the strut. Could that strut just be not as stiff as the other one? that would cause the gap in the front to be un-even like it is.

Aside from that, I'm not sure what else to check except perhaps the chance that you knock the camber adjustment towards the positive end so the top tips towards the fender lip. Good luck!

Okay dont get mad here but this is what I am talking about, if your going with a 2 inch drop why on gods earth would you go with a Tokico shock turn around and buy another?
Your problem one shock is broken in already or busted as well. Tockico shock is not the ideal shock for a sprint spring or a coilover, to fix this problem youll need to upgrade your front shocks to a Koni or a KYB adjustable do keep in mind that Konis have lifetime warranty KYBs on the other hand cost a bit less but only have one year warranty. Both good shocks, I have 18x8 on 245/40 with cut front springs and no rubbing at all. Do not buy another set of Tockicos they are not good shocks for the money.
yes, it's trent.. I can check to see, but I'm pretty sure it's put back together correctly. I will check it though. I think at the end of the week I'll get it aligned w/ the camber bolts and see how it is. I do see your point Jay, and do agree with you that the tokicos can't handle that kind of drop, but I only bought the one to replace it since the others are still good. I am planing on getting some konis or AGX's in the future. Thanks for all the help, any other ideas are more than welcome..
