I was wondering if you can put another layer of tint, over tint that is already there ?? My new 98 has tinted windows, but they are kinda purple, and niot as dark as I would like...Can I put (well, have put) another layer over that ??

 

That's not such a good idea. Better to get fresh tint. Especially since your old tint is turning purple.

 

Yeah, like clee said; you can put tint over tint but unless you like the purple just get it removed and go w/ fresh tint in a darker % if you like.

 

I'm gonna agree with everyone here. I know that people put two layers on sometimes to make it darker but I wouldn't do it to replace old tint. Just pay the extra money to get the tint taken off and then get new tint put on.

 

And I'm gonna jump on the wagon and say a big NO. If the old tint is turned purple is because it's garbage now, and If you put new tint on top it will just come off or look the same shortly because the old tint will start peeling or bubbling next. Just take the old tint off and have a good shop put on the tint as dark as you want but fresh. You'll avoid the headaches.

yeah i'm gonna agree and say take it off before you put the new tint on becuase what if your original tint starts to bubble (it's very noticable) and congradulations you just wasted a bunch of money

 

yeah...thats what I was thinking.....I just wanted to see....I will have it striped and re-tinted....
