I just bought the same gauges that Benblanco has monday for $33. It says that they are for the SE only. Something about how the gauges are slightly different for SE's. I found these gauges on ebay too, doesnt say se or gle. But i think the one he has are for se only

wo wo wo wait and think before you do this. I did both the needles and gauges in my car after I saw Benblanco's pics and I have a 96 SE now the gauges werent hard to put in i got the gauges off ebay for like $60 shipped. I used double stick poster tape which is removable to stick them to the stock white SE gauges. I believe they work on any year maxima but the 98 needles only come in red not the sonic blue like I got.

The needles are a diff story please dont f*ck with those unless u want your needles all messed up like mine were, hehe. With the needles I got them from www.importintelligence.com. After I put the needles on when the gauges were already on I took the car to nissan cause I did not calibrate the needles correct. Nissan then went ahead and f*cked up the needles even more. (in turn they didnt charge me for them messing them up, how nice o them right)

So then I had to send my whole gauge cluster out to importintelligence in PA and Matt who helped me out only charged me like $10 to fix them since shipping cost and arm and a leg. All in all the gauges and needles look nasty but if and when you buy them have BOTH the gauges and needles put on by importintelligence, trust me I learned the hard way.

p.s. any questions email me at nymjayjay@aol.com

all the guages are pretty much the same, only difference is the screw locations - nothin 2 worry bout - just use double sided tape to mount them instead

Yep, I know Ben and I have the same combo he does and I have a GXE. As for installing the needles and gauges, the job is completely doable if you take your time. I unfortunatley had a defective intelliglow needle kit (one of the wires for the temp gauge LED was disconnected)which I didnt realize until after I had the other three rings installed.

nymjayjay is right about the job being tedious, as the only thing that's holding me back from sending the kit back to importintelligence is that I don't want to take the entire thing apart and risk messing it all up. I can live with no needle for my temp gauge at night for now.

Try United Indiglo. Go to ebay and search for seller "unitedindiglo" and email him.

I have reverse gauges and indiglo needles in my 97 GLE. The install wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I experienced some problems with sticking needles after the gauge install so when I went back to install the needle kit I sanded the base of my tach and speedo needles a bit with my dremel. To install the gauges in a GLE you need to remove several screws. Good luck.

Why didn't you tell me that your needles are messed up? I can help you. I changed out the faces and put white ones in, blue intelliglow needles and chrome rings. ALL of my needles work fine, all of them are accurate. Go here to see mine

Guys- your needles stick because you put them back on you put them too tight. Just give them a few turns and back them off the spindle 1/32" or so.

all I know is I put the needles on correct but did not calibrate them properly, I took it to nissan and they made the needles stick when the too them off and put them back on incorrectly. I got my $$ back for their labor and extra credit for them F*cking up the needles.

p.s. thats what a little complaining gets you, free oil change and free brake change thanks to nissans F*ck up

Miguel-I believe that all the screws are positioned in the same places in alike years. I don't believe it to be true that the GXE/SE/GLE have different gauge clusters just gauge faces. I may be wrong, but I don't see any differences in them on the first glance. It is hard to calibrate your gauges after they have been messed up real bad, but not impossible. Go out on the freeway and set your cruise for 60 mph and set your trip odometer. if you go 1 mile in 55 seconds you'll know your speed is really 70 mph then you can pull over and adjust your speedo. You do this by leaving your out clear cover off and only re-installing your cluster into the dash. When you pull over you'll have to pull the resting pin off to be able to turn the needle. Try it again, and adjust. Your RPM is easier. Just floor it till the the REV limiter kicks in. We know that the ECU is set to kick in @ 6500 RPMS. So if it kicks in at 6700 rpms turn it back a few. Fuel and temp are the easiest because they don't have any exact calibration. Fill up your tank and set it so it will raise just above F and your temp gauge to be just below the half way mark when at operating temps.

The Moral of this story is to read your instructions and mark your calibration points as instructed.

Maybe some help here...

A NEW QUESTION PLEASE ANSWER:

After installing my indiglos i noticed a couple things. I used tape, but i dind't put it in close enough to the center, so it sticks... easy to fix, just have to get off my lazy @ss.
Problem 2: I ran the wires out of light wholes on the back, you guys know what i'm talking about, 6 little lights...
i left 1 or 2 out and ran the wires out there, and as a result my gas needles gauge is VERY dim. Can i drill threw my gauge cluster? What did you other guys do? THanaks

Anyone seen those superwhite indiglos that are bright white at night too? And they have a dimmer to prevent screwing up yer eyes... They're on eBay currently.
