Sheesh! You guys are faster than my Turbo! . Hehe! Didn't know you were going to publish it so soon!

It probably won't look that impressive cos I had a load of four AND we're at altitude AND I drive like a granny!

I see you changed your screen name nigel, i think it fits ya better. Anyway even with 4 extra people in the car we still got pinned back in our seat pretty good once you 4k, that car is fast can't wait to see how it runs once you push 7-9 psi .

Sorry I had to leave early guys. Too bad you didn't get the speedo. I was doing over 90 when I started slowing down I think it got to about 90 in 12 seconds in that vid... seems kinda slow, but with a full load, it's not bad I guess. I'll try to get a video of it soon.

I'm going to Dyno again in two weeks ... after the EGT, boost controller and 3" exhaust.

thanks bro

My thoughts on it...Nigel the engine bay looks VERY pretty and tight...A+

But the sound of it...maybe it's just not picking it up but I don't hear any unusual WAHHH. Sounds like a N/A max.

I donno, maybe I'm just too used to my friends lightning, becuase his supercharger is LOUD as HELL and is a big WAAAAAAAHHHHH.

Thoughts

If you are expecting higher top speed, you are out of luck! Turbo doesn't help you get a higher top speed. It helps you get to the top speed FASTER ... sometimes much faster!

Hehe! I saw an Acura NSX yesterday being dynoed. The guy had put in $2000 for headers and exhaust. He got only 10 HP! . I felt kind of sorry for the guy. So do you still think $4K is too much for 100HP over stock?

Yeah, the turbo is actually not very loud at all! You could hear a gentle PSHT when under load changing gears ... that's cos it's only on 4 psi BOV doesn't blow very loud. You can actually hear the turbo spinning up, but the vid didn't pick it up and it's not very loud. Could also be some of the back pressure from stock exhaust preventing it from spinning freely.

When idling the intake is pretty loud ... you could hear it at the end of the video. Once you start moving, it goes away. The CAI doesn't growl at all even at high rpms like it used to.

I don't really like LOUD! Stealth is what matters to me! I may have to sacrifice and go to louder exhaust to get it to flow better.

You didnt have a exhaust in the vid, I thought you got it during the install!?

Oh yea, thats amazing that it can still pull like that fully loaded with peepz!

Sweet Setup

Gently used 1997 Maxima- 8 grand
New turbo kit- 4 grand
The chuckle after the first shift in that video- PRICELESS

The setup is amazing, the car looks and sounds great. I can't wait to see where it goes from here. I think the exhaust will kill your efforts to be stealth, but it will also free up tons of power for the turbo, an equal exchange. Overall a job well done. Keep up the good work. And keep those videos coming!

gtr_rider; I'll let ya know next time I need to post some footy. Thanks for helping me get that up and going.

One thing we noticed is that the kit might not work with an automatic tranny. The tranny looks like it might be in the path of the exhaust piping.

That was the problem Matthel had when he first did his and so right now his setup is designed around an automatic even though he did a conversion. I think he is looking for ways to redo the piping to make it more efficient. The auto tranny does take up a lot of room in the engine bay.

NO problemo, Ill be around when the next one comes out.

SO your saying that the piping wont work for automagics! Is there a way you can probably bend it a little to go around the auto and one to go straight through for the manual?

Downloaded the video.

Glad to see a Turbocharged Maxima!

What fun.

How about a close up photo of the turbo in the engine bay?

Kudos!

Good video. I was wondering what are the specs on the turbo your using? That is a loud BOV for sure. Good job!

Hehe! Glad you enjoyed it!

See if I can answer a few q's.

Oil? synthetic is probably the best ... one with a tight temperature range 10W30 or 20W40. regular organic is good but change it more often to prevent coking the turbo.

auto tranny ... sounds like there are a few interested with autos. We will look into the auto tranny. Might need to borrow Ryan's car for an hour to take measurements. I am sure it is possible with a swan-neck design. Unfortunately you can't bend it a bit, you need to bend it a lot!

Pics are available in two different threads ... 4th gen turbo kit ...very close in this forum and group deals forum - turbo kit ...go to page 3.

BOV is not very loud right now cos I'm running low boost 4psi so can't hear it under no load. 3rd gear pull and change gear is louder!

Anyone know how to change Newbie status? It sucks ... I only changed my screen name...and I am a newbie again!

Be like sprintmax and post a thousand times a day. No one cares tho becuase we know it's you

Who was the guy that chuckled in the video?

Nigel, if you get this much HP from a measly 4psi, ...well at like 8psi wouldn't you get like 200HP ?? It seems like this turbo is VERY productive, so how is your engine gonna hold normal boost when it would make soo much HP?

4psi won't make 100hp, even a T88 at 4 psi wouldn't make 100hp. Assuming its a standard T3/TO4E a 100hp gain would be seen at around 13-15psi, while a 200hp with race gas + extras would be seen around 22-24psi.
