where do you keep the car? where do you live?. mine is a 97, and that has not happened to mine, and it's the original paint job.

I have a similar problem on my '99 SE. I actually have cracking beneath the clearcoat. It's really weird. The paint feels smooth, but I have 3 small cracking areas the size of a pea on my hood. I talked to a body shop and they said the only way to fix the problem is to sand the area deep enough to remove the cracking paint and then repaint it.

95emeraldgxe, does paintscratch.com's paint match better than OEM Nissan touch up paint? I tried using Nissan touch up paint for my pearl white color and the touch up paint dries almost a grey color. I went to paintscratch.com's site and they say they match the OEM color. I wonder if they mean the OEM paint on my car or the OEM touch up paint.

YES, they have a warranty on paint. It should be covered under the "Basic Coverage" portion of the 3yr/36k mi warranty.
The warranty covers any repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship of all parts and components of each new Nissan vehicle supplied by Nissan except for the exclusions or items listed under or as indicated below.
The exclusions-

Damage, Failures or Corrosion from Environmental Conditions - This warranty does not cover damage, failures or corrosion resulting form stone chipping, chemical fallout, tree sap, salt, hail, windstorm, lightning, flood or other environmental conditions.
You will have a tough time getting them to correct, say, the front bumper like what other people have experienced, but its hard for them to blame the bubbling on your roof to something like "stone chipping".

My sis in law had a similar problem with her 2k Pathfinder. She called Nissan USA and received a vague answer, only to tell her to take it to the dealership for inspection to see if the defect qualified for warranty coverage. She did that and it took three different dealerships to finally get it fixed. The first two didn't even want to deal with it. The last dealership had its own bodyshop so that helped. However, her new car warranty was still in effect. Your 98 is past the coverage period. If you have an extended warranty/service contract, you are SOL too because they do not cover paint/cosmetics. Sorry!

Re:Wasabi MAX

Wasabi, I have the same exact problem on my 97SE which is black, I have 3 on the trunk and 1 on the hood. They are pea size and look like little cracks but are smooth weird, I thought my Max was the only one with that problem.
