I had the MIL come on in my car also. My shop manual said that if you want to clear all the codes that may be stored in your computer, disconnect the battery terminal for 24 hours. This will only clear your codes. It will now determine your problems. Hope this helps.

put key in on (engine off) position. turn ecu screw clockwise for two seconds then all the way counterclockwise. next all the way clockwise. lastly turn full counterclockwise. start up car.
