rim and tire weight?

what is a good rims and tire weight?
The stock saw blade rims are 40lbs with tires and people are saying
this is bad.
The weight of my chrome rims are 51 lbs
I called about the koing tantrum and it is 19 lbs for the rim alone
is this good?

does anyone agree with my reasoning...er..rationalization..that 5th gen wheels are heavy, but with the weight taken off by replacing a stock y pipe, youll sort of even out.?
i understand that wheels are where acceleration will lose because of rotating mass and stuff and not weight on the body, but. im tryin to rationalize getting 5th gens, when i do.

19lb wheels are good.

Every 1 lb saved on sprung weight (wheels, tires, lugs, rotors, etc) = approx 8lbs static weight.

Y pipe weight savings would be minimal - about the same as wearing down your tire rubber a bit.

Saving 3lbs per wheel x 4 x 8 = 96lbs static saved

No. Rotational weight has much more of an effect on acceleration than static weight like the Y-pipe. If you are trying to save weight and improve acceleration, you can't rationalize 5th gen wheels on a 4th gen.

Hey Nealoc187. I just removed my snow rims/tires & weighed em. 42lbs a set. Tried out my new Kosei's last weekend - 40.75lbs per set. That's another 40lbs static less than the dyno day.

You can try the website:

www.wheelweights.net

They have the weight of just about every kind of wheel on the
market.

guess i wont be doing 5th gen wheels now, even tho they look great to me. i wouldve thought since theyre jus oem wheels they wouldnt be so $$ but i was wrong. im going for kosei or something so i can actually feel the power in acceleration.
thanks for changing my mind guys
