Should I Buy It???

I went to look at a 95 Max today and it ran like new and looked great. The only downfall to the car is ithad 223K on the dash. The seller wants $4500 OBO for the car and I wanna offer him $3500. He is a mechanic at a nissan dealership and he did take care of many of the common problems with the car which he mentioned to me before I had the chance to ask about them. Well let me know what you think!

nah, dont do it..i think even 3500 is too much. wait it out until u get what u really want and a good deal at the same time.

As a side note i waited 8 months to get a new car, and now i have it all. 96 5spd max with only 24.5k on it when i bought it

The car is 5spd and the clutch was done 40,000 miles aog...

Yea i think i might save up for alittle and get one with less mileage...its a shame though cuz this car drove like it was brand new...Well what mileage should O look for with a Max...When does everyone have to start replacing things and what should I look for?

Thanks

Jay

well i got my 96 max in feb of 2001 with 48,000 miles on it, got it from the missan dealership for 14k ( don't care about the price, daddy bought it ) ... i guess what you should look for is one with around 90,000 miles if you're looking for a 95-96, if you're looking for a 97-99, you can still get them with less than 30,000 miles on them, but be prepared to pay a pretty penny.( i don't know if my figures are exactly right)

The maxima engines are very well built and they last for a long time. at 60,000 miles i needed new brakes and shocks ... but thats about it

My budget is BROKE ...no I was just gunna save some money up...make payments to myself, and save up cash then sell my 3rd gen and buy a 4th gen...Gunna take the advice of waiting though...the 3rd gen is running strong so maybe ill just do some more modding on that and save up!

I know $4500 is a little steep for that kind of mileage, but if majority of everything else was okay, couldn't you just drop in another engine with less mileage from a local junkyard? I've seen a few with about 60-80K miles on them going for about $1000.

true but engine is not the only thing that goes bad. Got to look at tranny, suspension, and various other componets. Kept in good condition or not some parts are gonna go at such a milage.
