how do you take off the rear seats of a 96 maxima so i can take off the shock/strut assembly..???

 

there are two rings to take off the "seat" part ... these rings are located below the seats, in the little crack ... once you find the rings you pull them .. then you take the "seat" part out ... then there are 4 10mm bolts that must be removed to take of the "back" of the seat .... they are located towards the doors, at the base of the "backing" you'll see them, they're on little thingy's (can't really explain it) ... the other two are located in the passage way to the trunk ... put down the arm rest and then the plastic piece so you can see into the trunk, and then there is another thing (it'll prevent anything from falling down there if the plastic piece is down) ... unscrew those 2 bolts and then lift the seat .. they're on 3 hindges ... and there you go

uh, you don't have to remove the rear seats to get the struts out. they come out from the trunk. the 3rd gen has to have the rear seat removed, but not the 4th gen.

 

aren't the struts under the carpet in the trunk?
