Side posts?

You mean the extra terminals at the sides? If so, they're just there to give you an extra place to put your battery cables to allow you to fit the large battery in a space consuming slot. I'd assume you just hook up anything battery-related to them the same way you'd hook them up to the top terminals. If I'm wrong, what the heck are they suppose to do =) My optima ain't coming around till next week.

In this pic, it isnt clear but I have a 175 amp Maxi fuse attached to the side terminal. From there, the 2 gauge wire goes into my fender, down the side of the car, and into my trunk feeding my amps. go down to the auto parts store, and buy side terminal mounts. Then, get the connectors that crimp onto the wire.

Some makes of car use side terminal battery connections rather than the familiar top-side posts. The Optima battery provides both types of connection so they can cover a wide range of vehicle applications with just a few models of battery.

use it for your stereo

it is perfect for hooking up an amp to that so you don't need to mess with the factory hook up when connecting and disconnecting your amp.
