First performance mod suggestion?
First performance mod suggestion?
Alright, I'm sure this gets asked a lot and I did a quick search on the forum, but I didn't really turn up much in terms of what would be good as a FIRST mod. I just picked up the car yesterday, so it'll be a while before I raise enough money (especially since I want to buy a stock wing first) to actually buy anything and I want to make sure that when I DO get the money up I'm making the right choice. Anyway, right now I'm thinking either a Jim Wolf Intake or a rear Anti-Sway bar (you can probably tell I'm looking in the $100-$250 range). Right now my '96 GLE Auto (don't shoot me - it was all that was available at a good price and it sure as hell beats the few other alternatives I had) is completely stock and I'm leaning towards the sway bar. Anyone have a better idea or suggestions?
For performance get a CAI - Cold Air Intake - they do VERY well on autos.
For handeling get the RSB. Best handeling mod besides springs/coils/bags there is out there.
Its up to you, what do you want more? Speed or handeling?

By the way, I'm still leaning towards a sway bar as the first mod I'm going to get for the car. Considering this is completely stock with an auto I'm not complaining about it's performance at all
, but I wouldn't mind tighter handling. I was just curious if there was anything else that was similiarly priced that might also be a good idea.

Up to this point I wasn't really thinking about a CAI (I think they're illegal in Connecticut, at least that's what I've been told more than once). But out of curiosity, any recommendations for a particular brand?

If you can tell us what you want the car to do we can tell you what mods to look at. If you say the performance is great for now, do you want killer looks or the sleeper that kills? Do you want handeling? Hook us up with info and we'll hook you up with mods

My 5 cents, I would get springs first for better handling and looks and even tire wear,
you can get some sprints for $119 from Alex@southwestautoworks.com

Handling first, since you're maxima is still new to you the power should be pretty good for right now.
Get FSTB and RSB - You can get them both for you're price range.
Once you get used to the power and want more.
Performance - Y-pipe is best for the money, but intake is easiest to install.
