Buying SE-L... should I buy warranty too?

Buying SE-L... should I buy warranty too?
Hello,
I've got a 92 SE and I'm about to buy a 99 SE-L with 37k miles on it.
I also have option to purchase a bumper to bumper warranty for $1000 that will last for 6 years(from now) or up to 100k miles(on the odometer)...
What does everyone think? Is it worth it? How much stuff has everyone had break between 37k and 100k miles?
Thanks,
Jeff

Let's see........the first thing to go will probably be the Bose system if you have one (even if you don't, it'll be the stock stereo). One problem I had was with the starter, it died on me, but fully covered (except labor). Some lights may go haywire, but nissan's electrical system is not one of the best, it just means that the car needs some attention (might be lonely). Other than that, it's smooth sailing (with the honduhaz in the rear view mirror).

"Just Say No to Extended Warranties." $1000 is a lot of money. I put over 100K on my Maxima only replacing one of the O2 sensors. The majority of us have enjoyed trouble-free motoring. The few common problems with the 4th gen Max will cost well under $1000 to fix and the chance of anything going wrong is minimal. I would not waste my money on something like this.

I paid 1500 buck for my extended warranty, I didnt even think twice about getting it. After I bought my Max, the ECU computer harness got fried, that harness was like 1g to replace. Then since the dealer couldn't find the problem they replaced almost all my sensors execept, the MAF, and three injectors. Then my car was idling funny, so the dealer replaced my brake booster, another grand.

$1000 is pretty good, but sounds too good, double check the warranty agreement.
It's a used vehicle, so you never know if anything will happen in the distant future, due to the way the previous driver drove it.
But, if the agreement is all good, I recommend you take it, you won't be sorry...

Get that warranty. Don't drive off the lot without it. Electrical problems can plague your computer and its sensors if you live anywhere near Florida. You can only imagine the cost of just diagnosing the problem that caused your check engine light to turn on.

NO
Do not get it, I did and it was a waste of money. The chances of something going wrong, and it being covered are slim to none. I did it because I sold ext. warranties for years and thought they were great (and still do in most cases), but not on the Max.

Also, I have a 97 with 140,000 miles on it and have never had any problems till the past few weeks, and the only thing to happen was I had to replace one of my axle boots, and the auto light on my auto climate control stops working intermitantly, but nothing else.

There are a couple of ways to look at it. If you are familiar with auto work or know someone who can help you out, then chances are you're better off going without it since you (or your friend) can do the repairs/maintenance yourself.
If you have no clue about auto reapirs, then think of it this way:
Divide the $1000 into 6 yrs. So you're looking at $166 a year to know that your car will be covered if anything goes bad (just be sure to READ THE FINE PRINT or else you might get caught in their loopholes which leave you in the cold). Over that time (6 yrs or up to 100k), I'm sure your car will accumulate repairs well over 1k. Even though Maximas are very reliable, you know the saying of "better to be safe than sorry"...
