short throw shifter

just bought the pacesetter short throw and installed it. I reattached the heat shield underneath and just tried shifting through the gears, but I made the throw short enough that the control arm is rubbing on the sield. I know the directions say to cut a hole in it if its rubbing so I did, but the whole control arm is rubbing the length of the heat shield, so I cant make a hole in it that big. How important is the heat shield? can I just leave it off?

yeah, I searched for short throw shifter, and turned up no results saying anything about the heatshield. When I searched for heatshield about 40 times the server was buisy, pobably cuz you guys spend you whole lives on here. so I just decided to post. did it really hurt you so bad?

So I help you then you get upset by it? I dont understand why. If the server is slowed down then like it says try again later. It is busy for me as well but I kept at it for you. Next time though, maybe not.

Where did you get your Pacesetter? And yes, I have "searched" and gone to all the webpages listed in the forums, no go.

If the throw is short enough, then it will hit the heat shield and sound like your shifting a tin can POS. Leave it off or cut a hole in it. I, like others, elected to leave it off and have no problems.

I tried cutting a hole in mine last week and it was still making noise so yesterday I decided to remove the whole shield. Others have done it and are having no trouble. I'm going to give a go too.
