has this been done b4?

ok......so im off of work for a week for some "ME" time and im trying to find extra money around the house to foot the bill for GREGG'S red/clear lenses for the 99 SE-L we just picked up last week(shes getting a paint job right now) and when low and behold i remember i kept the red/orange lenses from when i replaced them in 99 GLE we also have and thought to myself i'll just do the mod myself.....well i start off with the wifeys blow-dryer with no evail but a small chip on the left lense so im like WTF this cant be too hard....then it strikes me has anyone ever tried using boiling hot water? so i tried it and what do ya know they come apart like melted butter!!!!i was so stoked that i called the wife at work (hehehehehehe) and told her all about it and shes like didnt they say on the .org board not to do that so i was like "you gunna give me $195.00 for "GREGGS" lenses...she said your azz betta find a job!! 195 dollas are you crazy!! so anyway we laugh it off and i tell her ok i gotta go im busy so anyway i dont want to put GREGG outta business cause man hes pretty much the shiznit when it comes to hookin max owners up! .....but ladies and gentlemaen this is probably the safest and needless to say the cheapest way to clear out your own tailights......if you want details ill try to post some pics o.k. but does anyone know if the inner lenses on the back you know the part that has the reverse light can also be removed...cause i kinda like the diamond cut look my tails have now....and i wonder if i take the clear piece out they would match better?

Did you actually dunk it in the water or just let the heat rise up and loosen it?

sink half full....

i boiled enough water to fill my sink half full then i just bathed the lense for like 2 minutes ,put on some rubber gloves then slowly but surely pried them apart..man was that easy.....i did however ended up chipping the left lense when i first tried it with the wifeys hairdryer which didnt get it hot enough to loosen up the glue?so ,yes it held its shape and yes they look 10X better than red/clears in my opinion...the wifey came home for lunch and saw them now she wants me to do the same to the GLE, so... who wants this done? im not trying to take GREGG's business but its a lot cheaper this way and has a different look....to describe it (because i dont know how to post a damn picture of them and no one will host me)they look like the 2000 and on pathfinder taillights!!pretty sweet!! now i just cant wait to pick up my SE-L(4:30) and slap these babys on, im also going to remove the clear lense on the inner parts of the taillights that house the reverse lights!!so they match of course!!
