auto vs 5spd

Simple question.
My stupid cousin keeps ****ing me off?

What will win, a 97 SE stock auto
or a 86 Turbo 300ZX?

the 86 300ZX turbo produces 200 HP at the crank..........it will be a very good race, you should go for it.......but my money is on the 300ZX turbo

If I remeber correctly, those old Z's were slow, so they put a turbo in it to make it normal. Plus, an 86 with turbo means that his turbos are probaly at the end of their life....You should pull on him fine.

Couldn't tell you... I will however comment that if a 5 Spd is more powerful than an Auto, than Maxima's in general kick a$$... I raced a 2001 Honda Accord Coupe V6 that was all riced out... My Automagic Maxima (w/ JWT intake and aftermarket muffler) wasted him bad last night at speeds up to 125 mph through a canyon pass... Poor honduh...

those hondas can pack quite a punch with the right mods.. i once had one waste me from 40 to about 110.. and he was constantly pulling on me the whole time.. he wouldn't tell me what he had, but i'm willing to bet he had some form of forced induction.. considering our cars have the same hp and mine is 400lbs lighter and he had a passenger and i didn't, and mine is manual, he had to have had a good amount of power.. ah well.. nothing a boost controller can't fix

The accord coupe is easy Honda prey. The prelude, on the other hand, you'll get him from the light, but on the highway, lookout! The Maxima and Prelude are well matched on the highway. I was really surprised by them.

Doh! sidetracked.

I think the Max would win because the turbo is old. I think those 86 300Zxs were rated at 185 hp. Decent at the time, but not anymore.

the turbo 86 300ZX has 200HP
stock max 190HP
keep in mind that the max is auto and the z is 5 speed

In that case, close. From 0-60 the max may win. On the highway, the ZX should take over.

Brand new, the guy is running low 7's (0-60) and mid 15's (1/4). Take into consideration age and worn out turbos, you can take him.

All really depends on the condition of both cars. A ragged 300 z turbo couldn't get out of it's own way let alone win a race. If the max is even worth driving, then the max would win. Auto vs 5sp, the auto max would still win. Race him and smoke him. Older Z cars are not all that anymore, back then sure but now; old news. All this applies IF the 300z is still basically stock. If he has new mods and upgraded worn parts, this is going to be a different story.

Kids we are forgetting about WEIGHT.

F-350 V-10 Superdiesels have 350HP/500lb.-ft. of torque....so I guess they should blow us outta the water right?
