Pls help - problem w/ front clears

The Set-up:
I bought some clear corners from Stillen and installed them with no problem.
Had a wee misshap, damaged front end.
Ordered new clears from Courtesy because they were cheaper.
Apparantly for a reason.

I was tinting them and my wife didn't notice them drying
and knocked them on the floor - all of 3 feet.
On one of them, the reflector came loose.
Strike one.
I had to take the lense off to fix it and found that the
insides aren't spray-painted silver like the Stillens.
Strike two.
Well, I fixed it up and put it back together, and insalled the lights.
They didn't fit right - the side markers kind of pop back out a little
and the edges - where the side markers meet the signal lights -
don't sit flush like the OEM or the Stillens do.
Strike three.

The Problem:
My first drive with the Courtesy lights in, the driver-side side-marker light popped out
on a little bump. Luckily it hung on by the wires.
I got to my destination and put it back.
Drove home later and the same one popped out again.
Strike 4.

I installed them the same way both times (Stillen & Courtesy).
Never had a problem with the Stillen ones or the OEM.
I'm sure I didn't do anything wrong this time.

The Plea:
NE1 have a similar problem?
NE1 have a solution?

Thanks all

I had the same problem. The easiest thing to do is back out the pointed nut type thing (I know a real technical term but I have no idea what it's actually called) a quarter turn and it should fit just fine. Courtesy clears are somewhat poorly made so they don't always fit the way they're supposed to. You may want to try DC clears if you really want to solve the problem.

thanks
I think I know what you are talking about - the "pin" with a hex shape
where it meets the plastic and that pops into the plastic grommet thingy...
and I don't know what to call it either.

but - if I "back it out", won't that make it longer and therefore make it stick out even further?

Also, what is DC?
Got a url?

Yeah, I know I posted this, but now that I'm thinking about it more
maybe the "anti-theft" trick
[unscrew that pin thing, put the light in place and reach up behind
and screw the pin back in place from the other side]
would do it.

You can secure them from other end like anti-theft thing, go here for a write up on how to do so:

For security reasons, why not secure them with a 7mm bolt for each one from the underside? That is what I did.

itsgt -
thanks fer the URL

GR8SOUND -
What is "DC" and do you have a URL for them/it?

MIXXMAX -
you're talking about the same "security fix" as described in http://gt.leaddesigns.com./mx/mods.php
right?
Or do you mean something else?
When you say 7mm bolt, do you mean that you did not
reuse the existing "pin"
but bought new hardware to replace it?
Seems that might work a little better...

I guess this is what I'll do.
I'm not too worried about getting them ripped off
- at least not where I live.
But it certainly can't hurt.
And I can't think of any other way to keep them from falling out. That just sucks.

Thanks y'all

DC = Diamond Cut

I was referring to Diamond Cut (DC) clears. They are of much better quality IMHO and can be purchased on www.custommaxima.com. I replaced my Courtesy clears with the Diamond Cut ones and didn't have the same fitment issues as I did when the Courtesy clears were first installed. You might want to also check the For Sale or Group Deal forum as people tend to offer specials on them from time to time.
