It depends on what state you live in. Why can't you look up the info yourself? Or just call down there yourself?

You're lazy...

Depends on state as well as area. Down here in Blacksburg they dont check emissions

Dont they say that most y-pipes pass emissions inspection once you get the car up to normal temp.

Ive heard the same as Finality...Be sure your car has been running for a little while before you go in. Some common problems depending on your state: Window tint, clear light bulbs(signals), neon underbody lights, tinted license plate covers, front license plates, etc, etc. They check the functionality of: All lights(signals, brakes, backup, etc), brakes, headlight alignment, tire wear, E brake, etc.

Put the orange reflector back on to replace the clear reflector on you clear corners. Change you bulbs back to stock. You will not pass with hyperwhites.

Don't know where you live, but in NY they even look at the belts.

Massachusetts emissions regulations have gotten much tighter and my y-pipe passed without the car even being that warm. I drove from my house to the inspection station, about 2 miles and that was it. You should be fine. Although they didn't care that I didn't have a front license plate or reflectors in the sides of my tailights either, so maybe they just don't care in general around here.

In Virginia, the first thing they are going to fail you on is your taillights. Put your stock corners and tailights back in. Take out all hyperwhites and check all of your bulbs to make sure they work and look stock. If your front license plate is not on, put it on. If you have aftermarket fogs, make sure they work. Their motto is: "If its on your car, it has to work". I don't know if they take emissions too, but if they do, drive around hard for about 20 minutes. You'll pass fine.

Depends on which part of NY. In the NYC area, they're very strict. They put my car on a dyno, stuck a probe up the tailpipe, (my car was invaded!) and measures emissions thru all the gears Still, I passed with a Y pipe and CAI. I have all clear corners and tails, too, with the correct amber bulbs in them as well.

If you go upstate NY, I think they just look at your car and say OK. I've noticed that upstate NY vehicles have a different sticker from the NYC area emissions stickers. I wonder If I could go to buffalo, pass inspections, then drive back to the city

Don't think so. If you live downstate (there are counties on that website that I pointed out before) you have to have an emissions test. Upstate we don't have to. Just what's listed on the page. Only difference between here and there is the emmisions test.

Some places they don't check bulbs (the sketchy ones you don't want to be around at night) and the nicer more expensive places do, atleast by me on L.I. you can call first.

abs lights

Hey I was just wondering if this is something that happens to your car after it is put on the dyno, during the emissions part of the test for those with a NY car--the ABS brake light (yellow one) stays on for a few minutes after the car is off the dyno? But because they put the car on the dyno to check the brakes, it causes the ABS light to "light up"?
hope it is not just me

Re: abs lights

Normal. Your ABS is freaking out b/c your front wheels are moving on the dyno and the rear wheels are standing still. The ABS computer is like "WTF!#@$"

Turn the car off and start it after inspeciton. Your ABS will be happy again.
