brake job at pep boys.DON'T DO IT~~~~~~~
i took a trip to florida a while ago and i was in need of brake pads.well i had to leave asap so i had to go before i changed my pads.
i tried to press on them softly for they did still have some life left.
well i guess 2000 miles in 3 days wasn't enough life.when i got back i was short on money so i took it to the local pep boys automotive shop and they sold me some rayo-something brake pads that they insisted were "quiet stop" .they tried to tell me that i neede to change my rotors AND my calipers.my brakes wernt that bad so i knew something was fishy.i told them to leave the old calipers on and they sed they could shav the discs.now after almost 2 months my car makes a starnge noise from my brakes.sounds like the rears too.
my opinion is if your gonna get a brake job done save the money and when it's time to change them.upgrade to a better braking system.i spent 350 bucks for nothing.my original brakes that were worn out worked better than the new "QUIET -STOP" quiet -stop my a$$.there a bunch of crooks.just wanted to share my experiance thanx

You spent $350 to have Pep replace front/rear pads and turn all 4 rotors? That seems a bit steep. I only buy the manufaturers pads. The 4 Hondas and 1 Nissan I have owned always squealed with aftermarket pads. Aftermarket compounds always seemed to hard which translated into less grip and more squeal. I would recommend replacing your Pep Boys pads with Nissan pads and replace the hardware as well. Follow the directions in the shop manual and you will have quiet and safe brakes.

I have QS pads.
They aren't that bad. I don't hear any noise, and they don't dust much. Then again, I didn't pay much to swap mine. Swapped the rears myself and the fronts when I had my CV joints changed. I am going to say that they don't brake as hard as OEM, but then again they don't dust as much either.
I will agree with you that I wouldn't have any work done at pep-boys. That's kinda like changing your oil at jiffy lube. You should know better.

They're the reason why I started working on my own cars. Can't trust mechanics who get paid $11/hr to do a good job. The only thing I would let them do is resurface my rotors (I'll bring it to them of course). This should be your impetus to DIY. I did my front brakes for $50- Ferodo pads $35, resurface rotors by pepboys $12 [$6x2], brake lube $1, can of brake parts cleaner $2, leftover anti-seize $0).
