1995 Maxima GLE --- Basic Performance Options?

I own a 1995 Maxima GLE with 185,000 miles, and am looking to put a CAI as well as a performance exhaust system in. The 185k miles were driven on the freeway about 99% of the time, and the car is in unbelievable condition for how much it has been driven.

I'm looking for a Cold Air Intake system, as well as a new exhaust system. I have a budget of about $900 to $1000 for the both of them. What I'm looking for is a small boost in HP to take me stock over 200, and a noise that lets you know the car is aftermarket, without being too loud.

I've looked at Stillen, and have heard good things about them, except that their exhaust systems have been known to start rusting within only a year or two. What other options do I have?

Thanks in advance for your input.

You can do quite a few things for $1k to your car. I have the same exact car and started modding with high milage too. If you plan on doing most of your own installs in the applicable things, it will go a long way towards saving you money for other parts. On autos, the combo of CAI and Y pipe is best bang. Cat-back will show some gains but will bump you up (if you have a Y) to much higher noise levels. I've read here good results (as far as noise) from Y, CAI, and stock muffler. That combo shows good gains and no additional noise. The Y install should only cost you $50-75 at most at any reputable muffler shop. The CAI you can install yourself w/o much problem and the right tools. After that, the only real mods you can do for performance is going to be a little more involved...i.e. N2O, VB mod, etc. to stay w/i budget. Hope it helps...

Well 900 is more than you need possibly. If you want to go WarpSpeed Performance then you can find them at www.warpspeedperfrmance.com Here is a bsic rundown for intake/exhaust like you mentioned

CAI - 175
Ypipe - Around 225 - 300 depending on which you get.
Catalytic Converter - You usually dont need it but with high miles like yours you may - 110
Bpipe - 70 Bucks

Grabd total around 605. That leaves 295 which can get you some other parts after these are installed if you want.
