Full size spare

I hate the donut in the trunk. I want a full size spare. I don't want to shell $$$ out for a rim to match the rest on my GLE since it's just going to ride around in the trunk most of the time.
I'm also betting that I'm going to have to modify or replace the spare tire cover.
So the question is what kind of car can I take a generic rim off of that will match up correctly? There are lots of junk yards around.
Guidance anyone? Please?

Why not just get a steel rim off of a GXE?

I seem to recall that Canadian Maximas came with full size spares, might want to ask one of them what they use.

I've only had this car for a month. I'm pretty maxima ignorant. I don't know the standard equipment from the options yet. I'm still coming up the curve. I'll see what I can do.
ThanX.

Re: Full size spare

I use a full size 18", like my other wheels.... It fits with no problems in the well, but it sticks out, so I cut the carpet around it, looks good, and I get comments on it all the time. It's the only thing my g/f likes about my car. I put the wheel and tire over the carpet, traced it and cut it out, pretty easy. Look on EBAY for a wheel possibly (I had 3 slightly damaged wheels from a wreck, so I use those as spares, mostly coemetic)...

Did you call a junkyard and see if they got one...don't get a brand new one if you don't need it
I might be able to get you this 1-800 number for this company "brown + brown" that sells new factory nissan parts for a third less, (I have purchased from them) tell me if you want it.

I use a steel wheel and stock tire off a GXE. Fits fits fine. Works a whole lot better than the spare that comes with the car.

Yes I use my stock GXE wheel as well. I am pretty particular, so when I noticed it didn't fit flush with the floor, I improvised. I got 3/4" fiberboard and cut it out to the profile of the whole trunk. I cut it in half so it could come in and out easily, and made supports on either side of the spare. Now my trunk is not only flush, but much stronger than before and not to mention looks more professional as well.

And yes the carpet was put on top again.

Hmm, smart man. I just replaced my carpet since it was one of the items lost back when my car was stolen. I was looking for a spare tire cover board along with the carpet and got the carpet first and when it arrived I put it in and I'm glad that I didn't get the coverboard because I realixed that it wouldn't fit right with the full size spare I had (stock wheel from a 3rd gen. maxima). I thought about cutting the shape of the stock board out of something but I thought it would be a little raised from the trunk floor due to the spare tire's width, but I like how your's came out. I might have to steal your idea there. Anyway, any 3rd, 4th, 5th gen stock wheel would work fine as a spare. Try a local junkyard.
