My maxima pings between 3000-4000 RPM, I have a weapon-R intake and a Tenzo-R muffler and a venom 400 computer, does anyone know if the venom is known to cause these cars to ping? I will be taking the venom off to see if that helps. does any one have any ideas on how to get it to stop. (I run 93 octane). Would a bad O2 cause this?

 

Gid rid of that POS Venom crap and see what happens.

 

I took the venom off it seemed to help but I still have not driven enough to be able to tell.

It wasn't a very hard ping it sounded like it was in only 1 or 2 of the cylinders. When the valves rattled it wasn't very loud. Pinging caused the death of my last car. And it sounded alot worse in it. If damage was done I guess I'm SOL but I hope that the engine is ok.

 

what does pinging sound like? is it like literally pinging? cuz I think my car sounds a little weird when its at idle..

 

It sounds like valves rattling, if you've ever heard a push rod engine float it's valves that's the sound it makes.
