You can do a search if you want a more detailed explanation.

Exhaust: only adds about 2-3 horsepower. Do it if you want the deeper sound...not worth it for performance.
Y-Pipe: adds ~20hp if combined with intake. Consensus seems to support Budget y-pipe (www.budgetexhaust.com) or Cattman. Others not worth extra $$$$.
B-pipe: adds a couple of horsepower - depends on how much $$$ you are willing to spend. Is a "maybe" mod.
Intake: lots of discussions on this. Stillen is good. Joe W. pop charger is good. Even generics are probably ok if you are really trying to cut costs. Adds 6-8 hp, mostly on mid-high rpm end. Best to combine it with y-pipe.

Get N20

It may not always be there, but it is the cheapest bang for the buck performance mod that you can do.

No Offense, but I disagree with a statement or two.

Y-Pipe - Budget or Warpspeed. Warpspeed seems to be the more popular one. Cattman is a great guy, but he is $$$ for what many consider the same performance/quality as Warpspeed.

Intake - Cold Air Intake - Warpspeed once again, or Place racing. Improves Mid-high End, sounds cool.

Intake - Hot Air Intake - JWT Pop-Charger, Stillen, Generic. Improves high end as much as a CAI, but there is some debate that it is not as good in low and mid-range. Mostly, this is unproven at this time, however.

And don't forget a High-Flow Cat. Adds 5-10hp.

Agree with above, but never seen anywhere that hi-flow cat gives 5-10 hp; heard more like 1-3 hp.

Oh man - I'm totally sorry. You're right about the Warpspeed y-pipe...I don't know why I typed Cattman. I must be even more tired than I feel.

And I didn't know enough about CAI options to put it down. I'm only familiar with the short-ram/hot air stuff. I should have wrote that down, but I guess I'm too tired.

Sorry for the misinformation. I think, besides names, the performance info is correct.

Goodnight everyone.

That's why you're a Newbie.

I've seen them give 20hp.

If you can figure out why It gained 20, I'll give you a cookie.

Still not 20hp... maybe a 3" exhaust all the way through (hence cat is 3" as well) on a highly boosted Max?

A high flow cat isn't going to add any kind of noticeable increase without a few other things. Y-pipe, exhaust probably...

Does anybody have the FPIPE combo from BUDGET Exhaust??

I had my mazda protege done there from the manifold back 2.25" exhaust pipes, S/S cat/ S/S resonator and magnaflow muffler but the pipes are all discoloured to red rust!!

Any how i am looking for a good Y pipe for my maxima i am picking up next week so if BUDGET is good i will go back there since i live like 20 mins away..

Alot of people on this board have budget. Most, if not all, like them.

For your reference, most people tend to call them "Y-Pipes" on this board. (Same thing as an F-Pipe)

Hmmm

The Budget Exhaust Y pipe from Burlington ontario??

You guys in the states have them and they ship it from budget exhaust??

I am sort of unfamilar with the types of stainless steel as they say their y pips are t304..

My only concern is that they told my the exhaust system on my mazda protege is stainless steel but the whole exhaust system is orange rust colour!!

So i don't want to put something that will rust on my maxima... Thanks for the info guys..

Even then you're not adding 5-10hp, you're just restoring it back to where it should be.

And maybe gaining 1 more.
