Z3 Fenders - Homemade Version???

The Z3 Fenders (like nizmolee's). Not the ones available from custommax.

How involved do you think making three cuts, and bending in the flap would be. Four times per fender, and not to mention the sanding of any rough edges before touch up repainting.

I am particularly interested in knowing how thick the fender is and if the flap could be bent in would it stay?

Are the fenders sheet metal?

I already know that anything is possible and it all depends on your cash flow. So this is meant to be a low cost solution.

Thanks all.

I guess it could be done. Its just sheet metal and they punch luvers in hoods that way all the time. But it would prolly cost you just as much to do it that way as it would to buy the fenders.

Hrrmmm.

Hoods aye....I may look into that too while I'm at it. How exactly do they go about punching the louvers into the hoods, besides the raging alcoholic method,

Shops that do it have a special tool for punching them. Best bet would be to find a body shop that deals with Hot Rod restorations.

The finished product actually looks nice. The procedure seems sketchy though. I was gonna get a new hood anyway so Ill have my old dented one to destroy....I have a few other ideas in mind.
