blue LED rear window switch MOD - need help!
blue LED rear window switch MOD - need help!
hi. i'm trying to do the blue LED window switch mod in my 99 SE. i've taken the driver and passenger side thingy apart, and it looks like a nice simple 15 minute project.
my problem is that after taking apart the ones in the rear, i've found that they use different LEDs. there are little square surface mounted LEDs
anyone know where i can buy these (if you know where, please include specs to search for)? or is there some way to use the same LEDs as up front? also, is the process pretty much the same? on the back of the wafer, there is a chip blocking the view. how would i go about replacing this LED?
i'd like all the doors to match!

yer gonna have to buy some SMD leds... they are alot smaller...
i'm assuming like these:
http://www.eled.com/product.asp?cata...id=EM2520PBC09
http://www.eled.com/product.asp?cata...id=EPTD3216PBC
those are pretty much the brightest ones i found
only 250 mcd's but they are blue

dont need to just use the same leds you use for the front. as far as wiring them connect the cathode to the lower left connection and the diode to the upper right conncetion. Referance to the pecture, its the same for both, just make SURE you are looking at it the correct way
If it dosent work wire the LED the other way, you probably wired the led the wrong way.

I did the rear LEDs on my 97 Maxima SE... There are some problems. There are actually 2 small surface mounted LEDs, I ripped them off. forcefully and removed some of the solderpads which is bad. I then attached a small blue LED in the place of two small ones. If you need a picture I could get one. If you have a digital multimeter put it on diode checker and it will help. After you install the one blue LED it will be brighter than the fronts because it is using twice as much power. You could add a resistor to it, but I didn't.
