And the ALtima is bigger too. My dad just bought an 02 Maxima and it's super nice, if I were in the market though, I'd probably pick the Altima over the Max now.

i used to hate on altimas so badly, but the new model kinda change my mind. it looks like a pimp mobile if you soup it up right. but i heard the interior ain't all that, maybe if they change the interior it will be top notch. i wish i had one of those v6 altimas

The '02 Altimas are nice, I agree, I test drove both the 4-cyl & V6 versions & they are fast indeed, but one thing the new Altimas are getting slammed on hard is the interior

Maxima's (regardless of generation) have a much richer looking interior & would win my vote hands down

the maxima is still the better looking car. i'm not saying i don't like the new altimas...i don't like how they made them have the same engine. they are nice looking, but i think some of them look ugly as far as the colors and the altezza's. some just don't go. IMO atleast...maxima's are still numero uno in my book.

altima's may be faster but they are like...well the new camry's, once u buy them whole, there's little you can do to the outside...they look like eh, u know...see how our 4th gens, we can do so much to them but the new altima's are just like hooked up the point u don't need to touch them and not that their hook up is phat or anything but i mean, look at it...what can u put on it? i would rather have a nice hooked up 4th gen looking like Craig Mack's rather than the new altima's, looks wise i mean....

Alti isnt any faster than the Max, the Alti is a tad slower in the auto version and manual is up to driver.

Without a doubt i would rather have a new max over a ricey altima. The max has so much more class. It interior and exterior styling is superior as well as having the option of a 5spd. Who cares about a half second in the quarter with a few minor mods you will be smoking those cheap trashy altimas

This has been talked about before but stock for stock, who is the fastest and where is the proof. No magazine times please!

There's some vidz of a 2k2 Maxima 6sp beating 2k2 Altima 5sp, but i don't know where it is and to tell you the truth, the Altima should not be that far behind....... Maxima in my book tho, seems faster, at least in auto form and from a roll, i'm guessing the Maxi again and on the highway, Maxima all the way

You clowns need to get your noses out of Sport Compact Car. I turned faster times in a stock 4th gen than those fools managed in both the new Altima and the new Maxima. Do a search for the videos, theres 3 or 4 of them of a 2k2 Maxima pulling steadily on a 2k2 Altima.

Where does it say altima is faster? I went to dealer last week and looked at hp (max 255 vs 240? and max was a pound lighter by my memory - so I figured the max was faster esp as 6-spd available.
