'SuperCharger Install For Dummies' finally completed!!! :o)

Alright guys. Since installing the supercharger in late January, I have been working on an install write-up "in plain English". Stillen's instructions are aweful as anyone who has installed their own SC can tell you. While installing mine and cussing Stillen out the whole time, I vowed to make this task easier for future SC installers. I really hope you guys like it. I hope it helps people out. My goal was for anyone who can turn a wrench to be able to install his/her own charger. Let me know what you guys think. Please find my write-up on page 4 of the cardomain site in my sig., or click here:

http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...=181995&page=4

I appologize for it not be very printer-friendly right now. They are just scanned pages of my write-up. Hopefully soon I can make it easier to print. But if anyone is serious about installing an SC soon, I have no problem faxing, mailing you a CD, or even mailing a color hardcopy.

With all that said, I'll end by quoting myself from the write-up:

"I spent many, many hours on this write up. And with that said, I am not asking that a statue be erected in my name or anything but I would really appreciate some thank-yous. I had nothing to gain by writing this, I did it for you guys. So just a quick thanks and seeing people use this, will make it all worth it to me. Thanks guys.

-Josh"

your write up looks nice and detailed. wish i have the money to get a SC and put it to use =)

you should have someone host the .doc file so people can download the document.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE, YOU $UCK, you know why, because looking at the detailed pictures of your install now I want one, and that's a bad thing, I don't have any $$$ for that kind of thing you're just a tease, and nobody likes you, hehe

very well done on the write up, couldn't have done it better myself

Josh...

I can host the zipped version of it for you if you would like. People would just have to download the monster in order to view it.

Let me know.

OMG. This is what I was looking for for 4 years.!

You da man, potatoe. This should be a sticky. NOt to say I'm gonna go get the supercharger right now, but I still wanted a detailed instructions, in layman's terms. If I can use this instructions and save $1000 on the install, the V2 starts getting more and more realistic....

Hey Josh!

You are a true asset to this community. I too was working on a "Supercharger Cookbook". This was for my own reference. There are a few things that overlap between my write-up & yours. I would like to email it to you and if you want feel free to merge these two together.
What is your email?

Again...excellent work!

There you go Bobby, you want to install yours, it should not be that hard is just time consuming, thats all. I used the wrong gasket for my oil return line and had a pretty nasty leak fixed it on Friday afternoon removed the plate, adjusting belt tensioner and replaced my plastic pullies with metal ones. Perma grey works pretty good and fixed the leak.

Perma grey huh?!
Good to know!
Congratulations on your leak fix. I have not seen your car in action but after talking to you, I am very impressed...more so knowing the fact you did this yourself! My fingers are itching right now to call Avalon and place the order for a V2...oooohhhhh boy!

BTW: Is Avalon the best price for the SC?

I would advise you to give stillen and avalon a call and see who gives you the best price. If your really serious the clowns at stillen can help you out. They only make a limited amount of kits per year thats what they told me this past Dec. But that guy Paul at avalon seems like a very serious person to deal with, unlike stillen who just dont give about you, Paul returns emails and so on. Yes Permagrey solved the issue but to add on to that I had to remove pullies blower, belt tensioner bracket and the oil return bracket. Oil return was what was leaking making a big mess all around my oil pan and oil cooler adapter.

The way things are going...I will have to install the SC myself. Now armed with Josh's SCIFD, I feel much more confident.

Josh, great write up... Making me drool even more for an SC now. Thanks for your energy and time. I will definitely be using this write up if I ever get that SC that I've been planning to get for the past 2 years.

Great writeup Josh! You're the first one to do this I think. The "how to" on Maximadriver.com is basically scanned instruction sheet from Stillen. So great job!

About two weeks ago, I started downloading the .jpg files and it was quite a job lasting into the wee hours to complete it. Your appendix of Stillen instructions I have not completely captured.

I need to finally take the time to read through this material and digest it fully, and sqeeze the juices out of it to glean the beauty of it and the full potatoe-ness of it.

I'm very impressed with the effort put into this writeup, and although I don't have a supercharger, I wanted to read through it and grok the joy of forced induction thru your metaphysical presense on the internet in cybernetic space on the org.

We don't know one another except through the ether.

May the Max be with you.

P.S. Just grabbed the .pdf file, Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't bother me at all. However, its up to ptatohed. I can't imagine he'd have a problem with it though.

I finished my SC install yesterday. I did it myself (with your help). Thanks for all the effort you put into the writeup!

Thanks for the kind words White96. While I only understood 70%, it sounded good. Hey when you say it took you a long time to download all the .jpgs, did you not know you can do a File --> Save As... when at a web site and it will save all the related pics in one folder for you? You can view the website exactly as it looked when you saved it, while off-line. Just thought I'd let you know, for future use.

I think what you did is exactly what this forum was started for. One maxima owner helping another. I never thought I would ever buy a SC since I would never pay somebody to install it and I knew I couldn't. After reading your write-up I am rethinking my previous decision. You are truely an asset to the Maxima community. Mega Kudos.
