Knock Sensor ?'

Has anyone here bought the K.S from thepartsbin.com? Being that it's not OEM Nissan(it's actually Bosch), does anyone think that there would be any problems with it? The reason I'm asking is because my KS code showed up, and this is the best deal I have found yet......$109.

Thanks, M.

When your knock sensor goes bad, will the resistance across the sensor show up as out of spec?

I have no clue.

In fact, I am not even sure if it is my knock sensor that is bad. Some ppl have espireinced bad O2 sensors, but the diagnostic gives a bad KS code. I pulled the KS code out of mine, and thats what I am going to replace, and if my code does not go away, then I'll look into other stuff.

Bosch makes other products for Nissan like our O2 sensors. A lot of things are just restamped with Nissan before production. Bosch very well could still be the OE maker of the KS for us.

To summarize Daniel B. Martin:
If your knock sensor resistance is off the sensor is definitely bad, but just because the resistance is good doesn't mean the sensor is still good. I just checked my sensor today and it immediately registered 570KOhms which is within the 500-600KOhm spec. My front O2 sensor also registered correctly. I had ECU Code 1405 (which noone knows) and I suspect it may have something to do with the EGR. BTW on my '99 the knock sensor is located in a different place than the '95s.

My knock sensor is directly under the very center of the intake manfiold. I'm pretty sure there is no way I can replace the knock sensor without removing the intake manifold.

i just replaced my knock sensor. i got the CEL and checked the code for it, 03-04, then i reset it.. the light never came back on but i changed the sensor anyways. i beleive there isn't a certain resistance that the sensor reads out. you have to check for continuity. if an open circuit is indicated you need to replave it.
BTW i really fu#ked up my hands doing it. they are really cut up.. good luck changing it.

I agree that the ECU does not look only for a resistance. The resistance check only shows an open or shorted circuit. If I replace the knock sensor with a resistor of the correct value, I will still set off the knock code in the ECU.

But I was wondering is a shorted or open circuit is the failure mode of the knock sensor, or is the knock sensor giving a knock signal when there is no knock, or is the knock sensor not picking up knock when there is knock and going into a retarded ignition timing to protect the engine?

stay with Nissan, dont cheap out for aftermarket $hit. Even thought most dealers want $160 for OEM its worth it in the end.
Heres my experiance buying aftermarket back when i did my 60k tuneup. I went out and bought some bosch +4 plugs for like $40. Put them in and made the car run like dog $hit. So i went to Nissan and after my mechanic yelled at me for wasting my money he hooked me up with (original)NGK Platinum Plugs and the car ran better than it ever did.
The moral here is stick with NISSAN equipment!!

NGK Platinums are actually more expensive than Bosch +4's. But I agree, I had +4's and it ran the same so it seemed. Good point though.
