1999 SE-L question

I have a 1999 SE-L stripper (no leather, sunroof, or S&C package). I would like to add an fstb, but I have the extra bracket on top of my driver's side strut tower. I would like to buy a bracket that will install without my having to use the hack saw if possible. Does anybody know if I can buy the 2000+ fstb, or another 4th gen fstb that will install without any hacksaw work? I did search, but I haven't found this particular information.

thanks.

I didn't use a saw! I used a crobar and ripped it off. That bracket has no use! Just make sure to paint it after you get it off. Another SE-L, welcome!

that little bracket... useless. take it off. you know those two long gold tubes that connect to that weird sensor thingy? i took out those tubes, shortened the rubber hoses and connected it that way. i'll probably have a pic or two soon...

Ok, I'm confused. I have a 99SE and I had the obnoxious little bracket. I just ripped it off, it served no purpose and wasn't even welded down, it was glued! So I figure it couldn't of been too important.

Another way is to cut the notch on the base of the FSTB.
I *think* Stillen does this to some of their strut bars.

Cut the damn thing off, it makes your car about 2 ounces lighter which equates to .0000000001 second off your 1/4 mile.

Welcome to the SE-L club!

Thanks for the welcome.

I thought that my bracket was welded on pretty good, but I'll inspect further tonight. One of my buddies had his 20th anniversary edition over last night and we got to looking under the hoods, his bracket actually holds down some stuff under the hood.

I'm gonna go fstb shopping.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
