Gas Gauge Goes Down Fast When I Gun It...
Gas Gauge Goes Down Fast When I Gun It...
ok guys/girls, dont know if this is normal or not so lets see. Whenever i floor (punch, Gun) what ever you wanna call it, the gas gauge goes down significantly that you can see it went down. Lets say its on a F mark, it goes between the F and the one line lower than that. After a while, it comes back up. Is this normal??
the car has 60k miles, maybe it needs a new fuel filter? thanks.

If you are having a hard time visualizing this, take a cup of water and put a straw in it, holding the straw in the same place at all times. Then tilt the cup around. The water level will change where the straw is, sometimes submerging more of the straw, sometimes less.

Hello... gas sloshes around in the tank. The sensor for the gas guage (and the gas pickup) is in the front of the tank, so when you accelerate the leans backwards, which leaves the gas level a little lower in the front of the tank, showing a lower reading. Your fuel filter has nothing to do with it.

Of course thats normal. Gas moves around in the tank as you drive, the sending unite bobs up and down in the moving gas.
