does anyone know exactly how trannys work.
valbody, torque converter, etc
i recently had my tranny rebuilt and in the morning when i go out first gear slips slightly for a moment and then its fine for the hole drive until i stop for a long time with the engine off. it gets cold again and then the same problem occurs. if i bring it back again for the fourth time i want to be able to know what i'm talking about when i try to explain to him what is happening.

also when he rebuilt he said that the torque converter was a special high stall torque conv. and he also threw in a trans cooler.

uh yeah

I'm thinking that you really need to make that pic smaller. I really wanted to see what it was of, but I didn't want to wait 5 minutes for it. Not all of us have cable modems or DSL. Although I wish I did. Oh well

You might want to check and see if there is too much fluid.
I could be wrong but the pressure inside the tranny can mess with the shift points and also throw of clutch plates that are grabbing each other.

Also, where did you take it? If it is not Nissan there could be some differences.
For example on a late model mercedes SL the first gear is actually second gear and it kicks down to first if you mash the pedal otherwise it starts in second. A trannsmission place told me they rebuilt it the traditional way and it was messed up. They should have never messed up in the first place. They did not have any manuals or anything.
Ask the shop if they have the specs on the trannsmission, and that you would like to see what they are going by.
If they stall and then bull****, take care of it before the warranty is up.
