Odometer question

Can anyone tell me where the mileage is stored on a 99 digital cluster? Is it stored on the ECU, or onto an Eprom of some sort in the back of the gauge cluster? I'd thinking of replacing my guage cluster, but I'm not sure if I need to find one with the same mileage.

I apologize if this has been covered before. I wasn't really sure what to search for, lol.

Thanks!

it's stored in the cluster. The dealer can set it for you... for a fee...

kind of intimidating staring at mzmtg sig pic and having him tell you there will be a fee.

I've often wondered about doing things like that. I would imagine that you can have it done but don't you lose your true milage? I know when I've sold a car I have to sign the odometer statement saying that the car has true miles.

Odometer question #2

I have a 95GLE it's not digital, can the dealer get true milage? My odometer has been broke for about 2 yrs and i've been too lazy to change it.

Nope. Unless you can tell them how many miles you've driven since it broke...
