What other 4th gen owners still in HighSchool?

Just wondering what other org members have maximas, and what mods you have done to them.

I got a 1995 GXE with 125k miles. Bought for 6800, insured for 2500 <---- paid for it all by myself (insurace too)

clear corners, 10" kicker subs, Aiwa Head-unit, Thule Bike Rack, custom seats, painted trim pieces.

Thats it for now. More mods will becoming after graduation and birthday.

Well I'm still in high school. Going to St. Matthew in Ottawa.

I own a 96 SE. Currently I admit I'm a real ricer here is my current list of mods:

- shaved *** (both Nissan hambuger and MAXIMA taken off, on a side note I really like the way it looks now)
- windshield washer leds (I know, I know, but.........oh hell even I can't justify them)
- In the ways of audio I'm stock but I did add a 10 disc changer.

Soon to come (hopefully):

- PR CAI
- lowering
- diamond cut clear corners
- tint

Jut have to want for my tax refund
And I'll have pics soon.

How?!

I'm not in high school anymore, I am a senior in college, but I am curious. How are you kids paying for all this stuff?

When I was in high school, I was a computer whiz and did some outside consulting for friends of the family sort of thing. I used that money to beef out my computer and buy a laptop. My car was a 1990 Max GXE that I bought with 110k miles on it for $8250. Mom paid about half of that and paid for insurance. Back then I was more interested in modding computers than cars, but it turns out that modding cars is a MUCH more expensive hobby! Some of you guys have very long lists of mods, so I was just curious.

Tell me about it ... I'm working as an engineer and I'm still paying off my car loan (among other things) ... there must be a secret society (High School Skull & Bones?) that finances these high school Max drivers! It's hush hush ... but yeah, I'd like to know what a high school kid can make in a summer and how they can buy a car ... do tell.

I made $3.5k over the summer working 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday. I was a paper pusher for a Sentara hospital. The summer before that I made just over $5k working at 2 places - a detailer and a body shop. My friend (also a high schooler) makes $8k working less hours per summer, and he's just a waiter. Again I don't pay for insurance (thank God), I only paid $4k for the car , and the rest went to mods and other expenses.

Wow, I didn't know you could make that much in high school. I managed to make between 7 - 10k each summer when I was a co-op.

Only 4k? How many miles did you have?

We have to work hard to keep up appearances with all you older (no offense) guys. If you keep your mind on your car every hour that you're working, you'll make it through. Avg for summer is 1500-5000. Just depends what you do. I can't count how many times I've said "I wish I had more money for the car" If you haven't noticed, I'm venting all my anger. All the career people out there can do cool mods that I can't. It upsets me Anyway... peace.

I was going to buy an Acura Legend, but when they said they'd give me this for $4k (I was going to spend all $8k on the Legend) I jumped on it. And I'm so happy I have a Maxima instead of a Legend. The Maxima community alone is a good enough reason for me to buy one.

I'm a senior. Had my car since I was a junior. Paid for the car and insurance myself. Only thing done to my car is tints (mostly because my parents think my car is too fast as it is and won't allow any performance mods.

Parents rock! My dad doesn't approve of my Maxima - he thinks it's more of a luxury car but he's never been to the US so he thinks a Civic is more of what I need.

Lemme see:
Civic w/ a 1.6L or a Maxima w/ a VQ30DE?

I've graduated from college, my dad will grow to love me again

exactly like me man, I'm a junior, and have my max, but all I have are tints and clear corners...no performance mods allowed for me either, one, because they say it's a waste of money, and two, they won't allow it because i already have one speeding ticket

Why dont you do performance mods without them. You could easily do intake, ypipe, catback yourself.

I got my 95 GXE when I was senior is HS...in 1995. (Thank you very much mom & dad )

Now I'm just glad I have a good car that's toally paid for and the insurance is dirt cheap.

I got my degree in Mech Engineering last year and I'm working as a project manager. All that and I coudlnt afford a new Max right now, that's for sure.

Two reasons I can't do the performance mods without them
1. I don't have access to all of money and therefore can't get it from them unless I tell them what it is for.
2. My dad sometimes drives my car and would notice that above 3000 rpms the car magically sounds drastically better. I'd also have to get the parts sent to my house.

When I bring my car to college in 2 years I plan on doing a lot.

I think it would be kind of hard without them knowing. I hid my cat-back from my parents for all of 30 minutes. The noise will give it away, just a little. Anyways I'm a senior(not after next week) and I paid for my 95 GLE. I have alot of mods and am dirt poor because of it. Don't get started unless you can fund it.

my max

I'm a junior in HS, I drove a mazda mx-6 for my sophomore and most of my junior year until my dad got me my 99 silver max gle about a month ago for an "early graduation present." I have so far, a custom CAI, high flow cat, Computer diagnostic shiftpoints, valve adjustments, pacesetter cat-back, and sprint springs. I'll be honest, my dad's an eye surgeon and he pays for my car, insurance, and mods (he has a modded s2000). My dad won't let me work except for summers because he says school is my job. But don't think that I get it all handed to me, I maintain a 4.1 GPA in college courses and got a 1420 on the SAT's studdying my *** off and I wouldn't get the stuff I get if I didn't.
