Lately my max('95 with 90,000 miles) has been idling weird...when it is in drive or reverse, it feels like it is hesitating but the rpms stay steady...sometimes when i start it up, it hesitates to start up. Could anyone give me a clue to what to look what is wrong? thanks....

May want to take a look at your throttle body. If you haven't cleaned it before, the build up may contribute to this effect that you are having on start up and rough idling.
