Gauge Needle Problems! Question inside..

I have a set of reverse indiglows instaleld and i love them to death. For the first time, on WED night i was driving around 6oclock in the afternoon and my RPM gauge wouldn't move, well it did but SPORATICALLY... For example, i would rev the car up and it would jump from 2300 right to 4000 to 5000 then i'd let off the gas and it'd fall 4000 to 2000 to about 1000 rpms... What could be my problem?

It has done this to me now 4 times, but i';ve driven my car like 20times... so it isn't that often! what could be causing this?

THank you..

Nope!

That was my first instict too. IF it was rubbing on the face then that means it would rub all the time, not intermitantly like it is...

I'm betting your problem is rubbing. Ive tried installing my Reverse indiglo's a few times, and everytime I have the exact same problem. Sometimes the force of the motor will overcome the rubbing, but not all the time. Good luck making them work right.

They are definitely rubbing or your loosened the needle when you did the install. Just remove your gauge cluster again and get some double sided tape. Use small squares (like 1/2" long X tape width) and place them behind the indiglos in a few spots. When the gauges warm up the sticking can get worse. Hope this helps. I had the exact same problem. Good luck.

I had some rubbing problems as well when I first put my reverse indiglos in. It seemed to happen most when my car was cold. When my needle kit came in I took off the needles and used the dremel to grind away some of the material on the bottom. If you do this make sure to mark your gauge calibration points. Mine work like a champ now!

I had similar problems about over tightening the needle to the face. But also you need to check your hole clearance where the needle connects to the spindle. You might have a little bit of contact there, a lot of people over look this because it looks good when putting it on and the gauge face is pointing up. Then when you put the cluster in the car gravity moves the matting a little bit south and you have rubbing.

Email me if you have anymore problems.
