Another Manual Climate control ? .

The fan for my heater/ac only comes on when the dial is turned to the max setting. Wondering what could be causing this, and how to fix? The dial turns fine, and everything else is fine, there's just no in-between setting. Either full on, or nothing.

thanks

Re: Another Manual Climate control ? .

I had the exact same problem with my 98 SE today. After much research and a few hours with he fsm I figured out it was the blower motor connector. This connector is under the dash on the passenger side. There's a switch that has to be pulled out and the connector is a credit card looking piece of plastic. There are two silver screws that need to be removed and the card pulls right out. I haven't gotten the new part yet but I pulled the one out from my fathers maxima and put it in mine and it worked fine. The part is around 20 bucks depending on where you go. What year maxima are you? Just wondering if this thing is common to 98's or what. Hope this helps! Let me know how you make out.

Thanks for the info camaro. I'll give that a shot. Also, my max is a 95 GLE.

Just FYI, your car is not a GLE if it has manual A/C.

All of the information I recieved with the car when I bought it says it's a GLE... like all of the service records and what not. The car has everything a Max could possibly come with except for the auto climate control and fog lights. I don't have the original sales slip, but you would think that the dealership that sold the car, and serviced it might put the correct model on the service slips, I would hope

Just checked and it does have a G on the plate designation :\ Maybe they replaced my climate controls, and maybe that's why they are not functioning correctly?

Does it have a GLE on the trunk

Everything I have for my car lists it as different models... I have a GLE... My insurance says GXE... when I've taken it to the dealer they've put every different model there is on the slips

Nope, it does not... interesting.
I know that the spoiler that is on it was put on when the couple bought the car (installed at the dealer). Doesn't the plate indicate which model it is? Or was that post about it (did a search) wrong?

check the VIN. In the FAQ theres a post that tells you how to decode it and find out your trim level. do you have BOSE? Also 95-96 Maxima's don't have the "GLE" badge that the 97-99 do on the trunk.

Yeah I have the BOSE, leather, sunroof, heated seats, power driver's, hunny comb alloy wheels. All the stuff that comes on the GLE's. I also already did the VIN decode, and found it to be a GLE, scroll up to post above

So... that must be what happened? They switched my climate controls at one time or another for some reason?

I'm sorry to head that man. I would go to the "dealer" that you bought it form and raise some hell. Maybe he'll give you something else in return or fix the problem. Good luck.

No, no. It was private sale. The couple that I bought it from had it from new. They had all the service records and what not from the dealer (dealer serviced all its life). I really think it's a great car, just wondering about this climate control thing.

Just weird that it has no auto control... not that I really need it, just really want my "in between" fan speeds to work.

Thanks
