Budget is god

Budget's Y-pipe could not have been an easier install. To get it in, it took my friend (a grease monkey) the time it took me to walk to the liquor store and back (about 15 min). Neither of us could believe how perfect the fit was. Customer service was also top notch. All for $275 CDN ($165 US), SHIPPED!

Anyone thinking of getting a Y-pipe, forget about all those fancy Stainless steel ones. This is the pipe to go for.

what kind of differences have you noticed with that y-pipe? i am thinking of getting a stillen, or a budget. did your friend have to put the car on a lift, or how did he do it? thanks

Huge sound difference in the exhaust, not a "muffled" sound at all anymore. I could actually feel a little bit of gain in power, so I guess that must be at least 10hp.

He put the car on a lift. Probably the easiest way to do it if you have access to one.

Aluminized Steel. The SS is more expensive, and IMHO not worth the extra cost.

Thanks mb1 I was just going to say the same thing, their Y-Pipe is T-304 Stainless Steel, its the only one they make now. It also kicks A$$. Well let me rephrase that, it doesn't slow me down any.

BC Canada,
Free Shipping,
Sounds great, real loud, but a bit of "bees-in-a-can" because of the muffler I am using,
Its gotten louder all the way through the rev range

I don't think SS is shiny. The polish it for extra $$ though...

So that means the stillen pipe with the equal length downpipes, doesnt provide any gain?
Since it still has the curvey pipe on the rear downpipe.

AdMax98 if you just got it from Budget its SS. They paint all their SS pipes Black so don't let that throw you. Go and try to stick a magnet to it, it won't stick to SS.
The stopped making aluminized steel quite a while ago. Also their prices on the net are not updated. The price for the T-304 Stainless Steel Pipe is $275 Cdn or about $170 US installed or shipped. I just got mine on a group deal for $250 cdn or $160 US installed.

Jamsan I don't think I would try to weld it, installation is one thing building it from pieces is another. All you have to do is get one angle messed up and its toast. Heck Catman and the others can't even do them perfect from a Jig so go figure.
Besides $170 US shipped for T-304 Stainless Steel ready to put on is a STEAL, forget welding.

Depending on how old your car is and how much salt it has been through will determine how hard the nuts on the manifold are to get off. They had to heat mine to get them off. Last thing you want to do is break one of the studs.
The only special tool, if you could call it that is a universal joint for your 3/8 or 1/2 inch ratchet to get the back manifold nuts off.
Putting it on is the easy part, getting the old one off is the chore.

if i remember the stillen doesnt have the opposite direction of flow on the rear bank exhaust like the stock one.

admax, I'll take some pics as soon as I get it back from the bodyshop. I'm waiting for my y-pipe from budget too and my strut bar. Can't wait! Looks like you have an aftermarket muffler, how loud do you find it?

It used to be perfect, but now with the y-pipe, its REALLY loud..and a little raspier than i'd like.

In your sig, it says you have an ultra flow exhaust, do you mean the Dynomax Ultraflow muffler? If so, how does that sound?
Thanks

It is a dynomax ultraflow. It sounds good right now, but I'm afraid once I put in the y pipe, it's gonna get LOUD. I think I'm gonna get a stock muffler put on after the y-pipe install.
