Raced a RX-7!!!!

Last night I went out cruising to show my friend how the VI felt. Raced a Acura Integra like 90-92 (waste of gas) but he had his girl in the car, so I had to show him up...tore him up like 3 times he wouldn't learn.

Then an RX-7 pulled up 92 or 93 of course it was turboed (wasn't modded). Anywho. We decide to go around 40 MPH. Get a little jump while he has a little turbo lag....and slowly start to pull away. Went to about 80 then came up to a red light. I was thinking this is going to rock I'm going to get to take him from the light. But, the guy turned off. Man, that was upsetting. I just feel he didn't want to get beat by a Max. But, that race was close race at 40-90 but I was slowly starting to walk. I know if I didn't have the VI he would have probably started to catch up if not pull on me without this mod.

I have to give that win to my newest mod (the VI). But, I looking forward to a lot more races with this mod. It totally rocks.

It was one of the third-gen RX-7s? If so....man, I love seeing those. I never do here though, in Omaha. Great car. Friend of mine in Texas had one. Don't they run like, 14.0-14.2s stock?

It was a previous gen RX-7 if it was a pre-92. Nice race. Cool to hang w/ "sports cars" heh!

I raced one Turbo RX7 and he was running 15 flats, I dont know what was his problem. My problem was that I was loosing boost forgot to hook up the ambient air sensor and also I had a damaged Y pipe this all happened in March. I possibly be going to the track June 8th again. Good run.

the VI is the middle eastern Variable Intake.

VI is a variable intake. It is an added chamber on the collector so when it opens you don't have the die off in power that you do normally around 5000-5500 RPMs gives you pulling power all the way through redline. It is awesome you can check the info out here http://www.vanillaice.com/webmasters/hype/mrc/mevi.htm. It cost about 520 and takes about 4-7 weeks to get in...but is probably the best mod that I've bought for my car. If your interested shoot me an email

Hope that helps

It was the newest body style. The one that was in Fast and the Furious 92-93. It was a great race.

But it probably wouldn't be any or nearly as much benefit to an automagic, right?

If you take a look at the site...Ian is an auto. and his dyno is at the bottom of this page...and he had an increase of 30HP rather than without out. He can definitely feel it. It is an awesome mod. Look into it.

www.cyberhub.net/intake

yes, I think it actually helps more in the auto, because you can't choose where you shift in an Auto, unless you shift manually, of course.

Day-Day driving, I think the mod is as good or better for Auto compared to a stick..

By the way everyone, I'll be cashing your checks today and sending to my supplier tomorrow. My GD is closed.

Yeah, but this is made by Nissan for the Max. It is stock in the Us for the 5th Gens.

Although I think there's something different between VTEC and this. Not sure about VTEC, because I have never, and never will own a Hon-Duh.

VTEC = dual cam lift/duration technology

MEVI = varible intake chamber volume/length technology

MEVI does not equal VTEC.

That's the short version anyway. Plus who cares when you got boost right?

Hmmm....seems everyone is busy.

We have to be done by Saturday, so maybe you could come out and help a little on that day with general advice.

The person who's garage I'm borrowing is leaving on Sunday for vacation, so that's why I have to be done by Saturday.

Sorry for going OT, everyone.

a '93 twin turbo RX-7 is listed as 4.9 seconds 0-60 by edmunds.com. You must have either a really fast car or something was wrong with his, if you beat him.

Ah.. thanks. Well we all know if he raced a 93+ 255hp RX-7 that only weighs like 2800lbs, it would have been murder. I think he said the rx only walked him. The Teg was a murder death kill

It was the newest body style so it had to be at least a 92 but I don't know if it had Twin Turbo or not...but it was a fun race.

It had to be the twin turbo. But, it was a close race and was just eeking away when we both like cut it around 90. I would have liked to take him from the start. But, he turned off. I feel that he turned off because he knew it would have been beatin. But, that is just my thought. I will have to find him again and race him...I've see him out there the last few weeks. So, I'll have to get another race in. But, at this time it was a win for the Cranman.

The Cost to Utah if you sending through pay pal would be 535 shipped to your house. Yeah it would do you a lot of good on 5spd. You know how the power just seems to dump off around 5000RPMs-5500RPMs It now doesn't dip off. It just pulls all the way through redline and it dynos a 10 HP gain at the wheels and at the higher RPMs like 6000RPMS it is 20-25HP more than what it would be without the VI and it does the same with Torque also. Was you drive a Max with a VI which will start to be more common you will never want to drive a normal 4th gen again. Just my 2 cents.

wow this VI thing sounds incredible but i dont have 500 bux to blow...and about the RX7, yea 255 hp twin turbo, and the car redlines at like 10K RPM(i think), thats a REAL good win, IF YOU DID WIN that is, i think u should find this guy again and see what really happens

well to be honest they didnt make 92s in the states so if it was this style then it has the twins and was released from 93-95 but if its this style then it was either single turbo or NA tuned and was released from 88-91 Id mess with one of these any day but the other one damn that my car aint super max yet those things are beasts stock even plus RWD can you say launch like a bat out of hell

Hopefully this weekend I can find him on the strip and give it another go. He was a younger guy so he might have just gotten this car for his graduation present or something. But, it was a win maybe he doesn't know how to drive...but it is 255HP at the fly wheel that the RX-7 claims it puts out. And I put down around the exact same numbers at the flywheel...possibly more. Anyway, I will definitely find him and race him again.

AND it adds +25hp peak to a boosted Max with a Supercharger...

Which is why I bought a S/C to go with it...

The 88-91 are rather easy wins. But, the car I raced last night was one of the 93-95 RX-7...the newest body style in that first picture you posted. But, if you guys don't want to believe me that is fine. I know what I raced and that I won, but I will see him again and race him again. It is like those neck and neck races...which are some of the most fun types of races.

I was doing some research

Found some dyno sheets on the RX-7 stock just to see what it looks like compared to mine. Here is the dyno I pulled up on the RX-7. http://forums.maxima.org/newreply.ph...hreadid=123901

Anyway...once I get my dyno chart up I'll post it also but my peak Torque was higher by like 5-8 and my HP was also great by 5-8...but the Maxima torque curve is a lot better and the Maxima hits the peak HP sooner and it never trails off. Look at Ians chart his shows the same. It peaks sooner and stays at the peak for like 1000RPMs. Just something I thought you guys might find interesting. If any body wants my dyno charts I'll be glad to email them to you. So, you can compare. But, looking at the dyno graphs and considering wait it should be a close race like it was. But, that is just something I was looking over. What do you guys think.
