What the f***...!!!!

I was on my way home on the highway (95) and I ran over something in the road. I thought that I must have been being careless, but i'm pretty good about things like this. Anyway, after about another 15 miles, i pull into my driveway and check underneath the front of my car to make sure my paint hadn't been chipped. Check this out, my newly installed clearcorners on the driver's side were gone. My bulb was exposed and showing. I was mad as hell. Anyway, being a punk when I first got the corners, I was afraid to put them on myself, but being as upset as I was, i put them on and saw why they didn't stay on when the shop put them on. From now on, i will do every mod no matter how big or small. If I can't do it myself, I will be there to learn and help with the process. The jerks at the shop didn't even take the time to make sure that the light had snapped into place. Hey fellas where is the cheapest place for me to buy some quality clear corners. I'm about to arder some from nopi because they appear to be a little cheaper than the ones on custommaxima.com. Can a brotha get a little feed back. All criticism for my punk *** ways for learning sh*& the hard way is what i deserve!!!1

Actually, many clear corners, including mine, don't fit into the pegs right. You can snap them in as much as you want, but they will still fall out because the peg on the clear corner is just too small for the hole it's going into.

There's a HOW2 on www.maximadriver.com, I believe, that shows you how to permanently attach them so they can't pop out.

Really it's more bad design than the shop, I guarantee it.

The same thing happened to me. at speeds above 80 mph, my corners would always come loose and dangle by the wires. one time, one of the hanging lights put a bunch of scratches on my fender. to fix them, i used a little duct tape (hey, it works! ) to stick the back of the light to the inside of the fender. haven't had any problems ever since.

I bought my clears (diamond cut) from ProCarparts. For security reasons, I had bolted all four pieces from the other side. This way they will not "pop-out" at any time, and most of all, somebody will have a hard time stealing them because they would have to tear the bumper apart to get them!

go on ebay and you'll find them really cheap. i've been seeing some "euro clear" which aren't regular clear and appear to be diamond clears, i think some people call them different things...so check there and you can get them around $36 shipped.

next time secure those puppies!

Ya I hit a small racoon and mine shot out, and one time a hubcap hit my bumper and they popped out. It's totally the design that caused this. Next time just unscrew the metal pegs off the light and use an actual screw with a washer to fasted them directly to your bumper, makin it very difficult to steal. Good Luck.

Just out of curiosity, how much did the shop charge you to install bumper lenses?

Andy, glad to see you got your car. I've heard that the new diamond clears aren't fitting right...my old ones fit okay heh, but there are ways to make them stay on. I am still a little shocked that someone had a shop install them though....

Clear Corner install

My clear corners fit pretty good -- but I understand what ppl mean
when they say that they're loose -- What I did was place some cardboard
behind lens, where its supposed to snap in -- its nice and tight, and I've
never had any problems!

hope this helps!

They charged me $15, like i said that will be the last time any shop ever touches my car. Eventhough from what you guys are saying, the design is pretty messed up, it still put me in the frame of mind that if they fall off or if any mod goes wrong, it will be because of my carelessness and i won't have a sole to blame but myself. And since i've only had my max for a few months, i've really grown attached to my baby, and i think i owe it to myself as well as to my investment to take responsibility for the work done on my car.

I got a new set from CustomMaxima.com last month and they came with a replacement piece for the white socket thing that the peg snaps into. I have had no problems, everything is pretty snug. Fit is good.

I got my regular clears (non-diamond) and the pegs don't fit snugly in to the plastic clip. I used some electrical tape and made a couple of winds over the peg before I pushed it in ... fits securely & tight. No more looseness. Hope this helps too

maybe thickening the nub like this might make it a little harder to pull out too (cheap theft prevention?)
man if i could make 15 bucks and install corner lights!

My clears popped out once, but I then put a rubber band that I found(the thick kind) and put it on there, didnt move. then the rubber band broke, i broke the clears, got the diamond cuts, and they dont move as much

Well, you make it too thick and it won't go in. It'll still come out if you yank hard enough (unless you secure it).

Anyone in metro Detroit Michigan want clear corners installed? I'm running a special ... only $10 ... I even have my own tools.

Something that works...

Remove your bumper lights, get some silicone from HOme Depot or a local home improvement store. Apply the silicone around the lights housing(in that gap) and place them back on when it dry's. Presto! its all better now..

Look at you, mecca. You've gone from annoying everyone with bad questions to answering them for new annoying people with bad questions.

It's like I trained a recruit to drill.

<just kidding everyone>
