Doing a taillight mod, could use some advice.

Well I started doing the altezza Sexima mod with a litle bit of a variation. Instead of painting the clear the same color as my car I painted it black. It will be going on my beige 1995 GXE. Kinda going for the look of the new max tail lights. Anyway, I want to add some chrome rings (not real thick) around each brake light. Just to kinda give it a nicer look. However, I went to Home Depot, Pep Boys, and another local hardware store and they didn't have anything to help me. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to do this??? thanks.

How about using some really light grayish color? I think your little variation is a cool Idea, its sort of like UncleMax's front grill! Let me know how it comes out, I would like to see this.

i know you can buy "chrome material" at most auto shops. try autozone maybe. that stuff could at least get you going in the right direction.

Yeah, I will post pics if this ever gets done. I tried using that chrome door trim that you buy at pep boys or whatever, but I couldn't get it to bend enough. I also tried a metal dowel from Home Depot but the circle came out kinda sh*ty and wasn't perfectly round. I also don't want to paint it, because the circle will be kinda choppy. Anyone have any ideas?????????????????

The chrome rings might look kind of ghetto it they aren't flush, no?

Get the chrome Altezza's and paint them. Leave enough space around the lens and that will give a chrome ring effect...

Or, you could probably have the rings pressed for you by a metal shop if you give the diameters. You will have trouble getting these to stick unless the rings are wide. Thin rings will use less adhesive. You also have to make sure that you get the paint in an exact circle along with the ring or it will look off...

Well see, I already painted the tails so there is no room in between the brake light and the painted plastic. Also, I plan on going down to the nissan dealership and ask them for the sticky stuff they use to put the M A X I M A letters on with.

They come pre-cut on the lettering. You may have to use 3M adhesive tape, it's probably what they use anyway.

Justg make sure the painted surface is very clean before applying...

Good luck

i'm going to paint the altezzas today, I just had an idea, after painting the altezzas, why not go to a cheap jewelery store and buy some flat chains and put them around the altezzas, what does everyone think?

if your serious thinking about this, there are a few vinyl places that sell gel type vinyl graphics that bulk out, and you can order some silver ones. Do a search on gel stuff vinyl graphics. Good luck
