KYB AGX with Maxspeed Springs: Fender Gap

Hi Guys,

I had an awesome weekend..

Replaced my fronts spring/strut assembly and it took me 5 hours to do both fronts . Plus, I got a warning from an officer in Madison, WI to move my car since I used the DMV parking lot to do it.

I did have time to do my rears, since he was watching over me... so once I am done with the fronts, I left the lot.

Now, my question to you guys with Maxspeed and KYB AGX, what is your fender gap? 2 fingers? 3? 3.5? I asked this because I want to know the end result before bringing the car for alignment.

I still need the rears to be installed and redo my rear brakes (squeal as hell), but in the past 4 weeks, I did install the 4 new brake rotors and replaced the pads, Addco gold-colored RSB and front suspension. Not bad for a newbie, don't you think?

Ogredave....

....I suppose I am being a little bit impatient, am I?

Come onn.. .... will it be somewhere between 2 and 3 finger gap?
Right now it's 3...but hopefully it will go to 2 once it settled.

Crossing my fingers!

On a side note, my car now drives really well. The RSB and new suspension in the fronts are really make it "stick". I drove from Madison WI to Milwaukee last night, and I had to make a evasive manuever to avoid a racoon mom with her child crossing I-94.

The Max just took about a .5 second to set and it really turns. The whole body does not anywhere near before RSB and new suspensions.

Will do the rears soon..!!

Don't hold your breath... When I had my Maxspeeds, I had like a 4 finger gap(look at sig). Now with sprints, it's right at 2.

Hm...so that's it, eh?

Ah...

Oh well...what ya gonna do...

I could live with 3, and I don't think it would look so bad since I will be putting 17 inch tires. Were I had 18 inchers.....then I need to re-do my suspension at all 4 corners....

Thanks!

If your auto....

Try B&G's - I've had them for 3 weeks now. Almost 2 finger gap (sig pic)and a nice ride too. They seem to have softened up over the past few weeks which has improved the ride quite a bit.

Not recomended for 5 speeds.. the drop isn't even.

Thanks for your recommendation....

..but I think I will stick with Maxspeed. The drop at the driver's side is actually higher in my case. The gap at front passenger's side is about 2 mm deeper than my driver's side.

I think this is a usual case since if I sit down in the car, the driver's side will lower about 2-3 mm as well.

The funny thing was, I did not notice any harsh ride from KYB AGX since my old shocks were barely functioning anyways (114k).

whats the average finger width? Its just weird since not everyone has the same size fingers. 1 guy says 2 finger gap while the other can stick 3 in there.

Re: 3finger gap

LOL!! Yup..! Each to one's own (in this case: his finger width...his Maxima...etc...)

Euromaxima, my car looks like yours (minus the body kit and a your wing)....actually, my car is green.... but I just inspected the gap last night, and seems to me that the right front has dropped more to 3 finger (now it's tight), while the left front (driver's side) is about 3 fingers and 2mm. I suppose this to compensate driver's weight when he/she climbed into the car.

Maxspeed: 3 finger gaps

Seems to me that the spring will not drop anymore. I will be taking the car to an alignment next week.

Having said that, I believe if you install correctly, the gap will be 3 fingers (don't ask me how big/small my fingers are)

I was hoping for a 2.5 but .. ..oh well...

I did do a comparison to my neighbor 97 Maxima, since the car was parked next to me. You could definitely tell that my Max was lowered if it sits next to another "normal" max, but you can't really tell by itself.

The "normal" Max has a 4.25 finger gap though, so we are looking at about 1.25 finger drop. That means, the Maxspeed spring only lowers around 1-1.2 inch instead of the "rumored" 1.7-2 inch.

I believe this figure is the same as H&R drop.
