Gauge Cluster???

Has anyone swapped a SE (white face) model gauge cluster in place of a GXE (black face) model? Most probably, I would think, that this is interchangable, except for the mileage. I was wondering if anybody ever did this conversion and matched up the current mileage (non-digital) on the original cluster. If so, how did you match up the mileage? Did you have to take it somewhere to have it done? I was thinking about doing this conversion, but before I do, I need some feedback from you guys. Thanks!

They are the same size, so should be interchangeable. Although I dont think that you can match the milage on a new one. You get a little sticker thing saying how many miles on each when you switched out. On my old car the cluster got broke so I got a new one, and they just put a little sticker saying how many miles the car had on it b4 I got the new one. 1 more thing I think that its illegal if you mess with the odometer in any way. It will also mess up your resale value, people might not understand the switch as much. Just get white faced gauges from impotintelligence.com! just my .02

Thanks! That's what I thought....illegal odometer tampering. I guess the only way to match up the mileage is getting one with the same EXACT numbers! Just wondering, though, how would anybody know if the mileage was tampered with, not knowing the cluster was changed? The DOT? Only YOU would know, right?

Thats what Ive been wondering for a while. Im not sure it might be recorded electronically or something, alot of computers in the car! One thing you could do to match milage is buy a cluster with less miles then yours, then wind it up by hand to your exact milage. Then if it is recorded then you will have matching numbers. I think you can wind up an odometer by hand the numbers only go up. If you get someone observent then you run into the problem why is there an SE cluster on a gxe or whatever u got. Then you got a problem, then they will think you messed with the odometer even if you matched it.
