Question about Gauge Cluster in I30

SO I was installing my reverse indiglo gauges the other week and noticed that on my car (97 Max Se) the gauge cluster has spots for lights directly in the middle of the cluster, in a vertical row. On the back they are labelled, P, R, N , D and so on. I was wondering if anyone has installed lights in these sockets and cut the bezel for them to shine through.

I am almost positive that someone had a picture of this in there sig like a year ago. (And yes this isn't the 1st time I posted, just changed names)

Let me know if anyone has done it.
Thanks in advance,

- Mike

There are no electrical connections there. What I did, when I noticed this discovery, is that I installed LED's in each of the holes to give each a certain function such as alarm status, fog light, trunk open, etc.

I thought that an i30 and a 4th gen have the same gauge cluster.
Maybe not though?

96-97 I30s have same gauge clusters as 95-97 maximas and 98-99 I30's have the same as 98-99 maximas

well they are the same, but mine don't have P-R-N-D-1-2-3. Mine is just black without any lettering behind it.
