Squinting Maxima, Pic (but bad quality)

I recently saw a skyline in a magazine with not just the eyelid, but also a strip on the bottom of the light...I thought, "hey, that'd look cool on a max". So I tried it. So far I've just used vinyl to see what it would look like, eventually I'll get a proper painted piece made. I tinted the clearance lights too.

Please give your opinion....and sorry for the nasty quality pic.

That looks cool!
At first glance it reminded me of a Rav4 for some reason...

I think it looks really good.

Now thge bad part, light output would suffer really bad, correct?

I really like the way it looks, but the lack of light output would concern me

Hey, come on, I've lowered my car, its not a 4x4 anymore

Up close it still looks bad since its not a plastic piece.
Btw, there are headlight covers available for 97-99s right?

That actually looks very good, but bags is right, i would think that you would have to drive around with your highbeams on to see anything.

Well I drove around that night and it seemed fine..I'll try and find a flat wall to test it on and see how much its affected the output.

How big is the top & bottom parts?

Like how much of the light is covered up, top and bottom?

Try doing 1 side and not doing the other side then look at a wall like you suggested.

I had a 3" tall piece initially but it was way too big so I cut some off until I thought it looked good. I would say the widest part on the top is no bigger than 2" and the bottom is about 1"-1.5".

I'll try and take a pic of the light output tonight (low beams w/ no fogs) against a wall if someone could also do one with the stock setup.

It makes the front end look so mean Since a drop in light output may be an issue, maybe if you combine this mod with a Hanabai HID kit, that'll solve that problem, especially since HIDs that run in 9004 specific housings tend to be too bright and full of glare anyway. Match made in heaven

No no no...I wasn't referring to 4x4 height at all.
Ever seen the front of the new Rav4s?
I just hope someone doesn't say that it looks "oriental"

One thing to watch out for...shaving off the top nib on the headlight is fine, but the bottom ones look like they have air bubbles in them, so if you shave too much, it might make an opening into the headlight...(so there is a bump in the vinyl since I didnt want to shave too low).

Thanks for the tip!
Maybe some clear silicone will help if I encounter one of those air bubbles.

i really like how that looks too. if you could get a good pic of one side with it, and one side without it against a wall, that would help a lot of people decide if this is a safe mod. but good job taking a risk....it paid off

Gosh I had that for a long time...I used to apply custom made body graphics to the rocker panels of my gf(now my wife)'s Pontiac DisAstre back in the early '80s.

Yea, it does look similar to the Silvias. Did you think it would look bad if you extended the vinyl acroos the corners?

I think it looks great!!! Looks just like my ride. I have headlight covers and I just spay painted my bumper lens (compliments of Mad Dhan). I will post a pic soon to see what you guys think of my all black face w/ custom grill. The spray paint over the stock yellow lens comes out perfect. Although, I had to get fog lights to help with my visiability because my night vision suffered a lot. I'll give the forum a holla once I get my pics up.

Night Lights

Sorry for taking so long, havent had the time during the night to get a pic. Heres what it looks like. My camera doesnt take pics very well at night but you get the idea. It seems to be about 75% of the stock output.

Regular lights (no highbeams) with no fogs.
