My driveway has a pretty good slope to it and I wouldn't feel comfortable working underneath my car with jack stands. It's fine for doing brake work, wheels, etc. Anything that you don't actually have to get under the car to do.
I'm considering getting a set of ramps to install my new exhaust (y-pipe back), but it seems like I remember trying ramps several years ago and the body just behind the front wheels would catch on the top of the slope of the ramp basically making them useless.
Am I remembering this correctly? Does anyone here use ramps for work down under?

I've tried, but since mine is lowered, I cant get it to go up the ramp. the front bumper drags.

Good point.
Has anyone with a NON-lowered Max tried ramps?

I'm lowered and I've discovered the "TRICK" to getting my car up onto my ramps.
I back into my driveway and leave the nose just out over the aprin right at the point where the aprin slopes down. That gives more clearance for the front end. Then I put the ramps on the slop and drive up. Works perfect, no scraping at all and I'm lowered almost 2 inches. Gives you a ton of room under the car to work.
You just have to make sure your not hanging out to far into the street. Having your legs run over isn't going to be fun....

my car is slammed and i got it up ramps for the y-pipe install. just use pieces of wood to make the incline of the ramp less. this way u dont scrap and ramps are better than jacks. also put something behind the rear tires or front(which ever yer not using) just in case.

I bought a pair of ramps (at Walmart for $ 25 or so) to install my RSB. It worked fine, do not need to jack up the car and stuff.

i used my ramps to look under my car all the time. if your driveway is sloped, you should use ramps or jacks, try going to flat surface. better to be safe than under your car screaming for help.

Yes, I used ramps all the time for my 97, to change oil, y-pipe, etc. Worked out fine for me, plenty of space to operate. Best thing I can think of outside of an actual lift.Originally posted by PhatBastard
