Why is my maxima fast until warm-up?

Any help would be appreciated. When I first start my car from a normal or cool state it runs very strong. But once the temperature gauge makes it to half way I notice a big decrease in power. I have a weapon-r intake and I mounted the temperature sensor in a cool place away from the engine. I can't figure out what else it might be.

because as the temp rises, your intake sucks in hotter air.

When the car is "cold" the ECU runs in "Open loop" mode. It ignores the O2 sensors and only uses a pre-determined map to deliver the fuel. It also usually runs a little rich during warmup. Both of these can make the car feel a little faster in the morning.

The worst time for you to get on the throttle is when the engine is cold. So it's a bit of a Catch 22.

Get a PR CAI... BTW, do you actually feel the difference in power over the stock air box with the Weapon R? I was thinking of getting one, either that or an INJEN (after more saving)

when ur car starts and it's cold, dont u it rev at a higher
rpm? cus when my car is cold and i start it up and revs at
over 1k rpm..then when it's warm it goes down to 600-700rpm
but yes, the car is faster when it's cold...i jus let the
car roll out the driveway with my foot lightly on the brakes
cus it rolls so fast i dont even need to step on the gas

Well sometimes I punch it to the floor when I leave the driveway but once the temp gauge reaches halfway I experience almost 30% of my power is gone. I have a 1997 5spd with 142k. I'm starting to think the o2's might be due. My service engine light was on before but it went away............either it burnt out or the ecu remapped things.

Someone had this same problem befoe, but he had his temp sensor close to a hot spot on the car. Ideally, the temp sesnor should be in a spot where it is sensing the temp of the incoming air, somewhere in the intake system. Why don't you want tp put it there?? Your car will work it's best if you make sure that your ECU knows exactly what's going on.

Is it THAT much of an upward slope? I'm not baggin' on ya, but I'm curious.

Have Autozone read the codes or follow the FAQ instructions and do it yourself. When is the last time you did a tune up? At 120K miles?

My car did the same thing when it had a bad knock sensor. If it is the sensor it will show a code (34 or something) when you pull them.
