1997/1998 Maxima or 2000/2001 Sentra

Well i plan on buying my first car soon and I wanted to get input from you guys. I had in mind either getting a 2001 Sentra SE or a 1997 or 1998 Maxima(preferably and SE).

Reasons for wanting Sentra:
-newer car
-lower millage than most maximas i see
-cheaper in price

Reasons for wanting Maxima:
-faster
-more space
-better features

but the problem is that when i search autotrader.com for maximas i see alot of them in the 70k+ millage range, and they still cost the same as a 2000 or 2001 Sentra. What would be a better buy?( I know this is a Maxima board but i want fair reasons)

The way I see it, you are going to be stuck with this car for a while, so I would get the one you think you would enjoy most. Technically (economically) the Sentra would be a better buy, but if you crave power and quality go for the max, fine one with low mileage, maybe a 98 coming off its lease, I would go with the max, If I wanted to be economical I would buy a Honda Civic

My 95 Maxima has 164,000 miles on it. So, mileage isn't really that much of an issue. My car runs great and these engines go for a long time if you take care of them (regular maintenance and oil changes).

by the time i get a new car after this, it would be when i'm out of a college(2007) most likely, unless i can earn alot of money durring college which is not likely. By then the maxima would be a 10 year old car. I wonder if it would still look good to me then.

btw, i plan on financing whichever car it is.

ya i've noticed now. I think i'll go with the maxima, if i can find one with decent millage and a good price. I'd rather have a bigger car.

I found one for $8,900(1997) with 79k miles. I've never seen one that low in price, but i'll check it out.
