Check engine light on, HELP (code not in list)
Yesterday my check engile light went on, I took it to auto zone where they do free diagnostics and when they hooked it up to the diagnostic machine we got the code P 1320. I couldnt find it in the list here and they didnt have it either in their list.
Do any of u guys know what the code means or can one of u look it up and tell me what it means. thanks in advance.

P1320, also known as CEL code 0201, is the "Ignition signal primary circuit fault".
The codes in the sticky are intended for those who extract codes using the CEL/screwdriver method (you'll find that 0201 produces what you're looking for). I guess you have a diagnostic tool to extract the codes? The Haynes manual lists both types of codes (see p 6-7).

I have the same code too..ever since i got into an accident where a guy changed lanes into my front left fender and i later got it "fixed"..its been having engine trembles once in a while during idle, until accelerating past say 30mph or so. I dont want the mechs to rip me off and if its a simple prob so i want to diagnose it myself...but i dont know how. The other party's insurance is denying its fault but im pretty sure its a somehow related to the accident. What should i do to diagnose it!?
This comes up in a search for 0201. The search can be a very useful function in the case of ECU trouble codes. Try your luck.....
In the words of the immortal DBM:
"Diagnostic Trouble Code 0201 indicates a problem with the ignition coil and power transistor. The ignition signal from the Engine Control Module is sent to and amplified by the power transistor. The power transistor turns on and off the ignition coil primary circuit. This on-off operation induces the proper high voltage in the coil secondary circuit.
The malfunction is detected when the ignition signal in the primary circuit is not entered during engine cranking or running.
The items to check include
- Harness or connectors (the ignition primary circuit is open or shorted.)
- Power transistor unit built into ignition coil
- Condenser
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF) circuit
A misfire on any individual cylinder should set a code, and a problem with the CPS should also set a code."

Thanks so much! I think this info will help a lot since it at least gives me a picture of what area a mechanic should coucentrate on incase he tries to take advantage of me by trying to sell me a non-needed repair. I hate most mechanics! theyre such crooks!
