VI just arrived!

I just got my Variable Intake today that I ordered from Cranman. It's awesome looking. I'm waiting on my car to get here and I will be doing the install today. All parts were accounted for and everything's nice and shiny! I'll post later today when I'm done installing it.

Let us know how much low end power you lose with this and if you actually feel the loss. On the other hand you'll be well into the 14's with this little deal

That is the beauty of the VI you don't loose any low end...it just adds to the high end. But, if you want to be technical the VI runners are a little shorter so your torque curve is probably down by 2lb/ft or so but that is about it is very minimal if any.

I heard the torque loss was around 6-8 lb.-ft I think that's what IANsw said, and that's what it looked like from his dyno.

Here is a link to my dynos http://www.vanillaice.com/webmasters/hype/mrc/mevi.htm if you want to check out the stats. But...you might be right...I never did a dyno run with the regular runner so I'm not for sure. But, with the VI there isn't any loss in max torque with it closed and open...because you hit your max torque around 5000.

Is there any recommended point to switch it on depending on what type of transmission you have?

It looks like the best place to turn it on is 5000RPMs But my RPM switch seemed to have a delay...but that appears to be the best placement. But, the best thing to do is do a dyno hour tuning, and set it for where the torque and HP curves cross. But if you don't have the money for the Dyno just set it for 5000 for the time being. You'll definitely notice it.
