Maximum engine potential

I'm just curious...what is the maximum power that you can get out of a 4th gen. Maxima? More specifically, 1996. Also, which generation of Maxima would have the most potential?

Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?

Considering the Toyota TT 3.0 liters are over the 1000hp mark, I don't see why the Nissan 3.0 V6 can't do the same. Just takes $ and skill. How much of both do you have?

I'm not really asking cause I want to spend $100,000 modifying a maxima. The real reason I ask is because other import engines can handle a tremendous amount of power, like the TT that you mentioned, along with..as much as I hate 'em...Civics and Accords. What it really comes down to is the fact that I have a family member that has a 1987 Corvette coupe (which I sold to her). She's gonna modify that thing with a supercharger, exhaust, intake, and other various shiznit. I don't want to take her in top speed, but I know that corvette VERY well, and I know it doesn't pull 245hp anymore. Can the Maxima be made faster in the low-end than this vette? That should have been the original question.

At some point, you will be limited by traction, not hp. The Vette is rwd so even if you have the same hp, ie.. 350, the Vette will still launch harder. Plus I suppose the Vette can also fit huge tires under the rear(ie.. 275-305). Maxima cannot.

That's actually what I was afraid of. I figure the only way that I could surpass the vette in the 1/4 mile would be to use NOS, but I really want to avoid that. I just got done doing CAI and a full exhaust system. I gots to wait 'till next sumemr to do the SC. I'm new to import modification, but I've modified enough domestic cars to give me a general idea on what to do to the Maxima. Worse comes to worse...just drop an indy racecar engine in, right?

That Supra motor is an iron block Inline 6... very solid and it comes with beefed up internals already... it was meant to be a "race" car.

the block alone, with just beefed internals, pistons, rods etc...no sleeves, i dont think it would get much higher than 600, and thats like critcal point. sleeved and everything, id say in upwards of 700, from what i hear the VQ crank and girdle is very strong.
